Chapter 14

Addison POV:

The two wild raptors gradually approach the back doors of the truck that keep swinging. Ferociously snarling, their huge and sharp teeth expose by their monstrous jaw widely open. Their terrific orange eyes fixe mine, sending me shiver down my spine.
I glance at the boys who seem terrified as much as I am, considering the blank expression on their faces. I gaze around searching for something that might be useless to save us from this mess. My eyes fall upon a metallic gray material in shape of a extinguisher.

I carefully get up from my seat, trying to keep my balance while the vehicle is still moving. I grab that heavy equipment and throw it at the one of the dinosaurs who's in front. The immense object hits him as he whines in pain. A sort of gaze comes out and smothers the poor animal, causing him to faint.

"That was badass!" Zach exclaims, referring to what I just did.

I grin at him then focus back on the asset. The other Velociraptor is now getting closer to us. Zach grasps a teaser gun hooked up next to him. He examines the weapon, desperately trying to figure out how to use it.

"Turn it on!" Gray screams

"I don't know how!" Zach shouts back

I lift up my head as the beast attempts to climb on the truck, his claws firmly gripped. I quickly push on a button, activating the pistol that Zach and Gray were struggling with. A blueish glow illuminates signaling us that the device is working. The raptor jumps, half of his body entering towards us. Zach points the teaser to its skin, electrocuting the carnivore. The shock electric causes the dinosaur to collapse on the ground.

"Damn. These things are dangerous." Zach gasps as we fall down on our seats, taking deep breath.

"I've noticed. We nearly survived." I shoot back still overwhelmed.

"Are you guys okay?" Claire blurts out from the other side as Gray opens the window.

"Yeah, we're fine. I guess." I mumble, realizing we almost died.

"Hey, we just knocked two raptors. Did you see that?" Zach asks her, proud of our accomplishment.

"I can't wait to tell mom!" Gray acclaims joyfully

"Oh! Please no! Do not tell your mother about that. Ever." Claire replies anxiously

"This is intense. I feel like I'm in a action movie. Everything seems so unreal." Zach declares

"I don't think you'll see people getting chased by dinosaurs in a action movie. It's more like an adventure." I clarify

"Kind of romantic too." Gray adds

"Why?" I question

"Owen and Claire kissed, Zach flirts you and protects you...Two cute couples." he answers

I've gotta admit that this kid is smart but why does he always makes the situations embarrassing?

"Will you ever stop talking?" Zach snaps at Gray

"We're not a couple by the way." I grumble

"Not yet but soon." Gray mutters earning a glare from his older brother.

My attention turns back to the noisy sound of a motor grumbling. Looking outside, Owen waves at us while driving his motorcycle.

"OWEN!" we all scream, happy to see he's still alive.

He lightly smiles before accelerating his vehicle up in front to lead Claire of where to go. After a few minutes, the truck finally parks in a spot and we all hop out, rejoining Claire and Owen who are already outside. I inspect the devastated place and remark that we're back at the park, just in front of the Innovation Center.

"Wow. It's empty, no's one here." Zach states

"Yeah, they evacuated the Island after the incident." I speak as we both trail off behind the others.

At that very moment, I stack on my shoelace and almost trip. Luckily, Zach catches me as my face nearly met the floor. I stop walking and put my knees down to tie up my Vans.

"Where they went at?" Zach questions me, noticing that we are now left alone.

"I have no idea."

"I guess we're stuck together." he smirks

"And is that supposed to reassure me?" I cross my arms on my chest, furrowing a brow.

"Well, I know something that can make you feel better." he bites his lips, approaching his face to mine.

Before we could do any moves, a loud roar resonates from our backs. I spin around, facing the Indominus Rex.

"Holy shit." I curse as we run away.

"Goddamn. There's always someone or something that gotta interrupts us during our moment." he groans as we run up in the main street, chased by the colossal carnivore.

"Maybe because you always choose the wrong time idiot." I retort

"There's no wrong time to kiss you." he smirks

Woah. My heart is now racing like a rocket for two specific reasons; a killer machine following us and a really hot boy, Zach. Never thought that would be possible.

Surrounded by many restaurants, Zach pulls my arm towards Baked By Melissa. Penetrating the store through the broken showcase, we hide behind a counter where the checkout and the vending pastry are.
Discreetly sneak peeking, we observe the monster prowls around, probably searching for a snack to seek his teeth into.
Examining the piece we're in, chairs are upside down, plates filled up of desserts quietly sitting on the tables and pieces of glasses scattered everywhere.

"Aye, that sucks. People didn't even get to finish their food." I affirm

"Yep, they were too busy fleeing away from the flying dinosaurs." Zach responds

"Pterodactyl." I correct him

Looking in front me, there's a protective glass recovering the counter with cupcakes inside. Greedy, I slide the window and take one.

"We're hiding from a dinosaur and you find time to eat?" he scoffs

"Of course, food anytime." I say, engulfing the muffin.

"True." he acknowledges, seizing a cupcake too.

He stares devilishly at me and smirks. Oh god, he's going to do something. I know it. He runs his finger into the frosting of the cupcake and roughly spreads it on my nose.

"We're hiding from a dinosaur and you find time to mess with me?" I retake his line, slapping his head.

"We're hiding from a dinosaur and you find time to hit me?" he repeats, lightly chuckling.

"Oh shut up. This might be the last time we do these things before getting devoured by the Indominus Rex."

"Trust me, it won't be our last time."

"How can you be so sure?" I demand

"I promised you that I won't let anything happen to you and I pledge to do so. Remember we're the warriors duo, nothing can against us." he smiles

I return the gesture, staring into his gorgeous brown eyes.

"Nothing's gonna interrupt us now." he murmurs

"Interrupt from what?"

"From this." he whispers, smashing his pulpy and rosy lips against mine.
