''Who's that?'' Sam asked as he looked at Maya walking towards the store, ''That's Maya, Derek's niece'' his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree. Somehow that made me smile.
''Hey Edeline. I need a favor'', ''Sure Maya whats up'', ''I have a family evening tonight. My cousin's birthday and everyone's coming. I wanted to ask what you think of this dress'' she said as she showed me a picture of a short black dress...
and another green dress...
The green was slightly better, but I couldn't help but think of mom's dresses.
''I have a couple of dresses back in the apartment. Would you like to see them?'', ''Really? oh, that would be great'' she smiled widely.
Sam was standing there staring at her like a fool. ''That's Sam, my partner in crime'' I introduced them to each other, ''I know, I've seen him around'', ''Oh you did?'' Sam blushed, ''Okay, we gotta go now. I'll come back once I help Maya'', ''Will Maya come back?'' he took me aside and asked, ''I don't think so. Wait... You got a thing for Maya?'' I couldn't help but tease him. He looked down embarrassed and walked away.
We went back to the apartment and I got mom's dresses out for display.
She immediately chose the Daisy dress. It was perfect for her.

I didn't wanna give away any of my mom's dresses, but my mom would've done it if she was here.
"Is it yours?" She asked checking it out, "no. It belonged to my mom" I said, "oh no. I can't take it. She might get upset" she said, "she can't. She's dead" I said it not realizing how cold I sounded.
I don't know why I said it like that, but... Maybe because I didn't want her to feel sorry for me.
"I'm so sorry" she said looking sad, "no need. The dress will look perfect on you" I said as I walked out closing the door behind me.
When she came out wearing it, it looked so beautiful on her.
"Thank you so much. I don't know what to say" she said looking at herself in the mirror. "Don't say anything. Enjoy the dress" I said.
She hugged me and thanked me once more.
''I will keep it safe'' she said putting in a bag, ''thanks for that'' I smiled, ''I gotta go now, have a good day'' she said as she headed towards the door, ''you too Maya'', ''Oh, and... say hi to Sam for me'' I smirked and closed the door behind her.
I smell a future for these two.
I went to my room and placed the rest of the dresses in my closet.
I saw that gift.
The gift that mom obviously didn't open. I took it and went to the couch. I opened the letter that was in it..
