The Spell

I just got my jersey and I walk into Mal and Evie's room, getting whisled and laughed at.

"Look who's a knight now." I say.

Carlos laughs.

He has Dude beside him, who I have seen with him for days upon days.

"Oh hey, Mal, I just remembered that we all get to go to Ben's coronation and the magic want is used to bless him." Evie says out of the blue.

She has a face of 'what am I going to wear?'

Mal looks at her in surprise, then there is a kncock on the door.

"Hold that thought." Mal says before opening the door.

Ben stands there, looking like he didn't expect Mal to open the door.

"Hey Mal." He says a little nervously.

Is he afraid of her?

"I didn't see you guys today and I was wondering if you guys needed anything." He asks.

Mal looks at us and we shake our heads.

"No not that I know of." She says.

He is about to leave when you can almost see a lightbulb over Mal's head.

"Oh Ben! Is it true we get to go to your corination?" Mal asks.

Ben nods.

"Could we sit up close like in the front row so we could soak up all that goodness?" Mal asks.

Talk about integrity.

"I wish you could, but up front is just me, my parents and my girlfriend." Ben says.

Mal nods and closes the door, smirking at us.

"I think its time that Bennyboo gets a new girlfriend." Mal says.

I star in disbelief at the girl who thinks boyfriends are a waste of time.

"I need a love spell." She says.

Carlos throws her speel book to her and she finds it.

We snuck into the kitchen and did most of the spell.

We needed one thing though.

"A tear is a tear." I say.

Evie says some smart things about tears and I stare at her.

"Look whos more than a pretty face." Mal remarks.

"I knew that." I mutter.

Carlos scoffs, but I don't do anything.

Mal looks overwhelmed, and for the first time, I remember that we are here to get the wand.

She has been working so hard that she probalbly doesn't sleep.

Mal covers her spell book as Lonnie enters the kitchen.

"Mal! There you are! All the girls want you to do their hair!" She says excitedly.

Mal looks at her.

"Midnight snack?" Lonnie asks.

She dips her finger in and eats the batter.

We all shout no.

"What? I'm not going to double dip." She says.

Mal sighs.

It didn't work without the tear.

"It needs chips." Lonnie says, going through the fridge.

"And those are?" Mal asks in anger at not being able to get the last ingredient.

Lonnie come back and puts something in the batter.

We all stare at the food we've never seen.

"Your parents never made you chocolate chip cookies? You know! When your sad and she just puts everything into perspective...." Lonnie trails off as Mal just stares at her.

"Oh. Well I just though even villains love their kids..." She trails off again.

Mal looks down, and Evie is now over cast.

Carlos cuddles Dude, and I fold my arms.

"Oh. I'm so sorry." She says as she puts her hand on top of Mal's.

For a second I wonder if this will be the end of this place , then Lonnie let's a tear fall from her eye.

Mal takes one look at it and snatched it off her cheek.

She shakes it into the bowl, with a confused Lonnie standing beside her.

"Well! Great seeing you! Evil dreams!" Mal says pushing her out of the kitchen.

"Alright. Boys cookie sheets, Evie, oven." Mal says clapping her hands.

We all listen as always, and we make a cookie, that when Ben eats it, will be in for a big surprise.
