Chapter 134 - The Three Weapon Diggers

We had finally arrived at our designated landing block in the heart of Xyraxis Metropolis—a sprawling, luminescent city that shimmered like circuitry against the void. Our space shuttle touched down with a muffled rumble, joining a fleet of other incoming transports that lined the hangar's vast expanse like insects converging on a hive. The docking bay doors hissed open with a blast of hydraulic steam, and Michelle, as commanding as ever, took the lead.

"Squad Zero! Form up! Let's go!" she barked, her voice sharp and electric. At once, WAIFUs and their Support Units snapped to attention, falling into formation with fluid synchronicity as they deployed onto the platform.

We had landed atop one of the many reinforced skyscrapers that dotted this mechanical cityscape. From our elevated vantage point, I could see the silhouettes of other aerial craft touching down on nearby towers, their rotors and thrusters slicing through the heavy night air. This particular rooftop was massive—its structure sturdy enough to support at least five Frame Units without so much as a tremor.

Further in the distance, other squads were being offloaded onto open terrain, their shuttles fanning out like insects scattering under light. But Squad Zero would make its stand here, among the steel giants of the skyline.

I tilted my gaze upward—and the world above took my breath away. The night sky was ablaze. Bursts of green, crimson, and azure streaked across the heavens, carving through the darkness like gods in battle. Fireworks bloomed like flowers of war, their colors masking a sinister truth.

For as dazzling as the spectacle was, I could still recognize the thunderous cadence of beam rifle discharges and the concussive pulses of railgun detonations. This was no celebration. The sky had become a warzone—and those radiant shapes floating like stars? They were no celestial ornaments. They were Cosmic Beasts.

"WAIFUs, combat begins in three minutes!" Michelle called out, her tone crisp and commanding. "Ready your morphers. Support Units, synchronize with your partners and prepare all long-range weaponry."

"Yes, ma'am!" we responded in unison, our voices echoing across the rooftop.

I quickly activated my WEEB System, tapping the interface on my wrist. The holoscreen flared to life, and lines of data danced in the air before me. After confirming my systems were stable and linked, I turned to look for Fei—but instead, I was met with a different face.

Michelle stood there, golden eyes intense and unwavering. For a fleeting second, I mistook her for Fei—those eyes could have fooled anyone—but the moment my gaze reached her silver hair, the illusion shattered. It was Michelle, watching me like a hawk, already three steps ahead.

"Zaft, as promised, I'll link up with you," Michelle said, holding out her morpher. The device shimmered in her palm, its interface already blinking in sync, waiting for my response.

"Oh, okay—"

"Wait, wait, wait!" Fei's voice rang out in panic. She dashed between us, wedging herself between Michelle and me with surprising force. Her palms landed squarely on our chests, pushing us apart like a jealous chihuahua guarding its owner. She then turned to me, her wide, teary eyes sparkling with exaggerated innocence, lips slightly trembling like a kicked puppy.

"Zaft, I'm your WAIFU, right?" she whimpered. "You should link up with me. I don't think anyone else would want to connect with a clumsy klutz like me..."

Before I could answer, another voice cut in—firm, teasing, and unmistakable.

"Hey, don't get ahead of yourself." Myrrh strode into the scene with practiced sass, one hand planted on her hip, the other flipping her greenish-blonde hair like a rival queen arriving at a school drama. Her narrowed eyes were locked on Fei like a laser. "I'm linking up with Zaft. He's my goon, remember?"
