Chapter 8
I decided to stay downstairs. What was the point of pretending to be asleep if I am usually up at this time anyway?
I turned on the projection screen TV and decided to watch a Netflix movie. Right as I was flipping through the children’s section I heard the youngest Gately girl scream “Scooby Doooooooooo!”
Georgia jumped onto my stomach and sat down. Her adorable curly bobbing beach blonde hair sticking up in seven different directions.
“Scooby Doo, I wanna watch Scooby Doo!” She hopped up and down on me.
“Oomph…Oomph…Oomph…if you WANT Scooby DOO than STOP I can BARELY breathe!” I started to tickle her and she stopped jumping, rolling off of me and onto the floor. I wasn’t going to admit that even though I am sixteen I was kinda planning on watching it anyways, it was kind of my childhood, the thing I would watch when I needed a pick-me-up or if I was sick.
“Fine I’ll stop but I wanna watch Scooby Doo wiff you.” Her little lisp and her princess pj’s made it impossible to say no to her either way.
The movie begins in the Wow-O Toy Factory, and Daphne has already been captured by the Luna Ghost. Fred and Velma are trying to figure out a plan to rescue Daphne but all goes askew and Velma ends up drenched from Fred’s hose and hanging upside down swinging in mid air with a chain caught around her feet. Fred ends up trapped under a rope net and Scooby and Shaggy are hiding in a barrel.
It was about 8:30 by now and I could hear feet shuffling upstairs.
I could hear Gwen through the floor yelling, “Hey where’s Georgia?”
“We are down here!” I yelled in the direction of the stairs, “We are watching Scooby Doo!”
Then there was a stampede of elephants coming down the stairs. Payton, Bailey, Jocelyn, Charlie, Teagan, and last was Landon. They were all in their pajamas but somehow Landon looked just, flawless.
All of them sat down nestled into the couch to my right. I had moved and was sitting alone in the love seat, Landon unable to find space anywhere else plopped down next to me.
“I’ve always been the child wrangler.” She smiled her eyes on the movie, and then she leaned in really close to me and whispered, “Don’t tell anyone but this may be my favorite movie ever! Scooby Doo was my childhood!”
“Like far out! Me too!” I said trying my best to sound like Shaggy. I am such a dork and yet I was on the football, baseball, tennis, track, and hockey teams in my old high school.
She laughed at me and we watched the movie quietly, until Cara screamed “Breakfast!”
