I was sleeping soundly with my ear buds in as I always do, when I was awoken to the sound of two quarreling male voices. 'Blaine and Cleft' I thought to myself. Those two were always arguing over stuff like strength, agility, wits, or intelligence. They would spend the whole week competing against each other to prove who the best was.
After several minutes the bickering between the two didn't stop. So much for sleeping in on my last day at home.
I decided now was a good a time as any to go downstairs. I got dressed into a pair of dark grey shorts and a light purple shirt, with one long sleeve and one short sleeve. I brushed my teeth and then pulled my hair back into two low ponytails. I grabbed my two coral suitcases that I had packed months ago when I found out I had been accepted to Alfea. And now the day was finally here.
I can actually get away from this rowdy household, and screaming fans outside our door. You see before my mom, Musa, and dad, Riven, got married my mom had started up a singing career and became a sensation. But after several years, my parents decided they wanted time out of the lime light. So they got married and eventually had their first child. Well. More like first two children. Blaine and Cleft are twins and extremely competitive, especially towards each other. Two more years past and their first baby girl was born. Me!
When I was about 5 years old, my mom got a phone call saying they wanted her to do a revival tour. Of course my mom accepted. So off all of us went on one of the biggest trips of our lives. Most of the time I would wander off away from the concert and find something else to do. I was after all, only four. I was quite the curios child.
Anyways once the revival concert was over we came back after nearly a year. After another year at home, my parents had another child. Can you guess its gender. Yup, a boy. My now 8 year old brother named Marlin.
I entered the kitchen to find my brothers arguing over who the best sword handler was. "Harmony!" Blaine shouted even though I was just a few feet away from him.
"What?" I asked, annoyed.
"Which one of us is the better sword handler?" Cleft asked.
"Neither of you," I answered, my hands on my hips.
"Come on, you don't need to worry about hurting Cleft's feelings," Blaine said, trying to encourage me to say him.
I smiled, slyly, "Fine. The best sword handler in this house hold is... Dad." The boy's mouths dropped open to the floor. I couldn't contain my laughter at their faces.
Dad looked up from the table at me and smirked. Which I returned. I was the only one that had gotten his looks in the family. My brothers had gotten most of mom's genes. Both Blaine and Cleft had mom's dark blue hair, while Marlin had some maroon streaks. I on the other hand got a full head of maroon colored hair, and a tanner skin tone.
I took my seat at the table next to dad as mom came in with a plate of her special pancakes.
"Good Morning Harmony," my mother greeted, placing the plate on the table.
"Morning Mom," I said, reaching for a pancake and placing it on my plate.
"Are you excited?" She asked.
"Of course!" I replied with great enthusiasm. "I remember you told me the all about Alfea, I can't wait!"
"You'll love it Harmony, and don't forget to check out the music room. The acoustics are fantastic," My mom said with a smile, knowing how much I loved singing.
"There's no way I'll miss it," I responded, popping a piece of my breakfast into my mouth.
"Well, you won't have to wait much longer." After my breakfast was finished, it was time to leave. I hugged Marlin goodbye. And fist bumped Blaine and Cleft. Hugs were too awkward for us. I turned to mom and dad and hugged them both at the same time.
"Goodbye, Mom, Goodbye Dad. I love you."
"We love you to," they said at the same time.
"Remember Harmony, that the there can't just be a Melody, or just a Harmony. Both together are what make a song." Mom whispered into my ear. It was something she had told me since I was a little girl. I had always been head strong. Like my dad, I liked to do things my own way. I nodded.
The portal to Alfea opened and I stepped through confidently.
