"So i'll... see you tomorrow?" Jordan questioned awkwardly.

"Yes, but only if you bring me pizza." I bluntly replied, letting no emotion slip onto my face.

He gave me a questioning look before replying, "Okay?"

-

"Ashley! Get in here!" My mother screamed from the living room.

I groaned, shutting my laptop and sitting up. I threw on some shorts and exited my safe-haven. I glanced around the room seeing my brother, Arnold, sitting on the couch along side my mom.

"Whats wrong?"

"Sit down." My mother ordered, pointing her hand over to a bare seat.

"So whats-" "Shh!" My brother infuriated.

"Listen to this." My mother said, pressing play on the television.

' The whole nation has gone into shook as a deadly new virus escaped the CDC, turning man into monster. More information about this horrifying event will be broadcasted at eight thirty tonight! You don't want to miss it! '

I looked over to see my brother and mom staring at me, pure fear splattered on there faces.

"We need to leave town." My mother urged.

"What!? Where will we go. China?" I laughed, there's no way in leaving.

"Hunny please don't argue. This isn't anything we've seen before, and I'm scared for your life's." She silently cried.

"Why are you scared? It's probably some bogus experiment to get people out of the city or something." I stated.

"Let's make a deal," my brother spoke up. "We stay a week. If this thing gets better, we stay here. But, if it gets worse we leave. Deal?"

"Fine." I mumbled.

They are weak, I thought.

-

"Grace. Get me the mayo please." I ordered, pointing my finger towards the cream bottle.

"I want a sandwich!" She cried out; flailing her arms through the air.

"Okay right after you get the mayo."

"Okay!" She cheered reaching up and grabbing the bottle, passing it too me.

I started spreading the substance onto a slice of bread when Grace started crying. I glanced over at her; she was sitting in her worn out dark blue dress. Tears stained her cheeks as she looked out towards a man. He was limping and had blood splattered across his shirt. But his eyes, the were glued on Grace.

I quickly ran over to her and wrapped my arm around her small waist putting her onto the counter.

"Stay here okay?" I ordered. She nodded with small tears falling down her face.

I looked back over to the man, slowly I opened the door and walked to him.

"Hello?"

"Are you okay?"

Taking another step closer I realized what this was, this is the virus my family warned me about.

The man reached his arms out and tugged at my hair. I let out an ear perching scream before kneeing him down below, but he didn't even budge. Suddenly I was taken to the ground by all the force. The man was laying on my torso, snapping it's teeth at me.

"Help!" I cried out.

I looked around frantically trying to find anything that could help me. My eyes landed on a a boy walking this was his eyes grew in fear as he saw what was happening.

"Ashley!" I heard Arnold yell, running up and tackling my attacker. "Run!" He pointed to the door and I ran behind him.

Once inside we locked all the doors and sat with Grace inside one of the hall closets.

"Ashley, are you okay?" Arnold questioned, glancing over to me.

"I think so."

"What was that?" Grace asked turning around and staring up at me. "Was it a mean man?"

"That wasn't a man Grace... That was a monster."
