I saw Dan tense up when I asked. He looked over at me then the road.
"Uh, why? Its nothing important." He said trying to shake the subject. Are you serious? I looked out my window and took a deep breath.
"Dan," I started, "To you it might not be important but to me, it means a lot, because it shows we can be honest." I looked back at him, he took another sigh.He looked over at me. "Whar would you say if, your biological mother came to visit you a few days ago while you were asleep?" He asked quickly lookijg at me then back at the road. Did I just hear him, correctly?
"No, she left me when I was a baby because she couldnt take care of me, she didn't visit or anything she wouldnt know where I am." I spoke thinking back to the slamming and yelling.
"Why did you storm into my hospital room? And why did she leave, why couldnt I have met her?" The questions kept coming into my brain wih every second we drove. Dan stopped the car at a red light then looked over at me.
"I, kinda told her off, she pulled my strings and I just wasnt going to stand for it." Something broke. He told her off?
"What did she say?" The light turned green but Dan didnt say anything. "Dan?" I asked taking one of his hands from the wheel. He still didn't speak.
"We can talk about it later." I let go of his hand. What the heck was his problem? Why wont he tell me anything?
Time Skip
When we arrived at the house, Dan ordered a pizza, then pulled me into my bedroom.
"Do you really want to know?" I sat down next to Dan.
"Yes of course. If it involves my mother." Dan then began to explain what my mother felt about my father and I. Am I really that horrible that she just left?
When Dan finished, I had tears streaking down my face. I looked up at Dan.
"Why didn't yoy want to tell me?" I asked. Dan puT his arm over my shoulder, and looked into my eyes.
"I didn't want to see you like this, I'm sorry." He brushed good thumb against my cheek, brushing off a stray tear.
"Dan, it hurt me more by not knowing, then you telling me the truth." I put my head on his shoulder.
"I know, I'm sorry..."
