The Pain of Loss

[A/N] HOLY SHIT OVER 2.K READS THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!~ I know I've said this a lot but I love writing this and I love that you all love this as much as I do!~ Sorry I've been kinda slacking on my others and I'll try and work on those too. But now, the moment you've all been waiting for shall begin!~

"So what's going on?" Natsu asked curiously after being the last to arrive at the Dragneel household.

"Sit down with the others, I'll explain in a second" Grandeeny responded and Natsu sat down next to Wendy on the couch.

"Wonderful costumes everyone!~" Grandeeny exclaimed after a few minutes of silence.

"Uh... thanks" Laxus who was dressed as a police officer murmured awkwardly.

"Where's dad?" Natsu asked curiously and Grandeeny frowned.

"There was an accident downtown a few hours ago..." the latter began as a few tears clouded her sapphire colored eyes.

"He was in it... and... a piece of glass went directly through his heart..." Grandeeny's voice trailed off as a few tears slid down her cheeks and everyone gaped at her in shock.

"I-Is he okay!?" Sting asked panicked and Grandeeny placed a hand over her mouth before shaking her head.

"W-What!? N-No he can't be dead! He can't be!" Natsu protested loudly as his fists clenched and he stood up.

"Natsu calm down, there was nothing that could've been done" Grandeeny said as she got up and layed a hand on his shoulder.

"Dammit! Yes there could have! Something could have-" Natsu was interrupted by Wendy hugging him tightly, he could feel his shirt getting stained with her tears.

"I-It's my fault" she murmured.

"If I had never asked him for a ride he wouldn't have even left the house! It's all my fault!!" Wendy sobbed and Natsu kneeled down to hug her.

"It's not your fault Wendy, it's nobody's" Grandeeny reassured Wendy and she sniffled as she looked at her mother with tears still in her eyes. About an hour passed as everyone shared stories involving Igneel and right before everyone except for the girls left Grandeeny stopped Natsu before he went out the door.

"Before you go, there's something I need to give you" Grandeeny murmured and handed him some keys.

"W-What... what are these for?" Natsu asked curiously.

"Your car, it's a red mustang, your father was going to give it to you for Christmas but..." Grandeeny's voice trailed off for a moment.

"You might as well go ahead and have it now, the car is at Atlas's house so when you get your license it's there for you" she smiled a little and Natsu stared at the keys in shock.

"I can't-"

Natsu's eyes shot open and he quickly sat up before gazing around the dorm, it was morning but Sting and Gajeel were still asleep and Natsu sighed.

Was that a dream? Or was it real? The pinkette thought and noticed the keys were on his nightstand.

It actually happened... dad is dead. Natsu frowned as he held back a few tears and sighed again before finally getting up to take a shower. When he finished showering he put on a gray shirt, a red hoodie, blue jeans, a pair of red vans, and as always, especially now his scarf. Natsu and Igneel had always been really close, Igneel taught him magic and most of everything he needed to know that school didn't teach him, Natsu spent most of his time with Igneel as he grew up, and the scarf that he always wore was given to him by Igneel, originally the scarf was just meant to hide a scar on his neck but now it had more purpose. Natsu looked over at Happy who was looking back at him from the couch and stroked the blue cat before grabbing his sketchbook and a pencil before leaving the dorm, the campus was surprisingly empty for 7 in the morning but it was Saturday so everyone was probably sleeping in.
