"What the hell is he doing here?" Ron shouted.
"Actually it's none of your business but if you must know he's my friend and I invited him," Hermione replied calmly. This comment hit Draco hard. Was he really just her 'friend'?
"Well he's not allowed in here, get him out!" Ron was still angry.
"Ron calm down! Hermione can have anyone she likes in here as long as they aren't causing trouble," Harry stepped in. Hermione gave him a look that said thanks.
"Well I'm not going to cause any harm so can you please leave Hermione alone?"Draco directed at Ron. Ron stormed upstairs but didn't say anything. Probably going to snog Lavender, Hermione thought. Harry started laughing.
"What?" Hermione asked. Draco joined in the laughter.
"Did I just say that out loud?"
"Yep," Draco and Harry both replied at the same time.
"Well it's probably true," she added and they all went into fits of giggles.
"I'll leave you two be then," Harry stated. Hermione gave him a small nod with a smile as he walked away.
"Well, we're on our own in here," Draco smirked. "What do you want to do?" He smirked again, inching closer to her.
"Play chess," she said rather bluntly.
"We could do anything but you want to play chess?"
"Um...yes."
"Come on baby," Draco whispered, resting his hand on her leg.
"Draco!" She hissed, moving slightly further away from him. He removed his hand and placed it awkwardly at his side.
"Sorry, sorry," he muttered, turning red.
"Let's play," Hermione continued as if nothing had happened.

An hour had past and the game had ended.
"Do you want to go a walk with me outside?" Draco asked sweetly.
"Of course, it's getting rather crowded in here," Hermione gestured towards the group of five at the other side of the common room. They didn't really seem to notice Draco. Draco slipped his hand into Hermione's and pulled her outside and down the stairs.
"Did you want to talk to me about something?" Hermione asked.
"Well actually, yes I did," he replied, a solemn expression plastered on his face. He took a deep breath. "Look the thing is that...I really like you and by really, I mean deeply. Hermione Jean Granger, I think I love you. The way your face turns red when I compliment you on how beautiful you are, the way you pull your hair in front of your face when you're nervous and the way you stand up for me. I love completely everything about you. But the thing is that I don't think you love me back. And that makes me feel like a thousand cruciatus curse's are being chucked at me all at once. Make no mistake, I would take that for you if Voldemort ever tried to do anything to you. I would die for you Hermione, but what's killing me already is that I don't think you would die for me. Not that I'd want you to die at all... Oh merlin, I'm making such a mess of this. But do you understand me?" Draco let his emotions flow out of him, his words burying in Hermione's mind.
"Draco," Hermione stuttered. "I didn't know you felt that way about me. Well the thing is that, I really like you as well. In fact now that I think of it, I love you," she leaned in to Draco, resting her head on his chest. She could feel his heart beating. Draco looked down on Hermione, resting his head on her's, a small smile forming on his lips. Hermione looked up and stroked his face. Draco locked his arms around her waist and lent down to press his lips against hers. Fireworks shot through both of their bodies. After a tremendous amount of time Draco pulled away.
"As much as that was the greatest moment of my life, I feel I need to ask you something else." Draco whispered.
"Anything."
