Chase POV
We got back from Dubai and of course Zyiare was back at work. That's all she ever do.
"Daddy, I want some glasses."Cai said. She'd been watching me too much, when I wore my glasses. Now she wanted some.
"I understand that. But you don't get what you want unless you do something for daddy."
She began to cry.
"I know you don't like getting your hair done but you got to. So I can take you to daycare. Daddy gotta go to work baby." I explained to her. She despised getting her hair done, and I wasn't as gentle as her mom because I didn't know how to be. So sometimes it hurt her.
"Come on." I said grabbed her hair box and sat her down at her little vanity.
I put some hair lotion in her hair first to moisturize it. Then I got some edge control and laid it across the front of her hair. Now the part she hates. I began to brush her wild mane towards the middle.
"Ow, daddy." She said. And stopped brushing. "That hurt daddy." She said.
I tried brushing more gently, until I pulled it all into a big puff ball.
"All done Cai. Now let's go get your glasses, so you can go to daycare."**
I pushed the cart around Target with Cai in it.
"Daddy hold me." She said. And I sighed reaching into the cart picking her up. I pushed it down an aisle, if she wasn't in it, not reason to have it.
"I want glasses like these." She said pointing to my face.
"Gotcha girl." I said.
"No daddy baby." She corrected.
I chuckled.
"Okay daddy baby." I said. She smiled content. We walked the store until we found the glasses on. She tried some on that looked nothing like mine.
"They look just like yours daddy." She said smiling extra hard.
"Yep." I said.
"I want these." She said and I scooped her up and started towards the checkout with them still on her face. After paying for them and some extra candy that Cai said she had to have, we left.
"Thank you daddy." She said pecking my lips.
"Welcome baby. Can you go to daycare now?" I asked. And she nodded. I buckled her up and started towards the daycare. When we got there, Cai was in the back snoozing with her glasses on. I chuckled getting out and going to the back seat. I got her out and carried her along with her bag inside.
"You know Mr. Henderson, if you're going to bring her this late in the day it's no point in bringing her at all." The worker said as I signed Cai in.
"You do her hair then bitch." I snapped walking past her towards Cai's section.
"Hi Chase." The worker of this section Crystal said.
"Crystal." I answered blankly as I laid Kai down on her mat and reached in her bag and got her blanket out. I pulled her glasses off and put them in her bag. I kissed her cheek."When she get up she'll probably cry for her glasses, they're in here." I said lifting the bag before putting it in Cai's cubby.
"You know Chase, I think it's absolutely sexy that you take care of your daughter." Crystal said stepping close to me. I admit it we had sexual tension. I let her suck me up maybe once but I killed it because I was cheating on my wife with my daughter damn daycare teacher. But I was still attracted to her.
"It's my job." I said attempting to step back.
"I never see your wife being Cai in here anymore. Are yall getting a divorce?" She pried placing her hand on my chest.
"Nah, so will you leave me alone now?" I asked cocking my head to the side.
"Sure, but don't forget, you always know where to find me." She said walking away.I headed out.
No matter what me and Zyiare are going through at this time. I can't see myself stepping out on her again. When we first got married, I was still young, still wanting to do the shit I did in high school. It took for her to leave with Cai and our newborn at the time for me to realize that I couldn't keep that up.
Now fucking bitches is the least of me concern, getting my marriage how it should be is.
The first step in that.. Is getting Zyiare to quit her job.Zyiare POV
"You know Zyiare I love it when you lean on top of me to stretch me." My patient and Professional Football player Michael Vick said.
"Real cute, but I also love it when you act like you don't see this ring on this left hand of mine." I said flashing the rock.
"I see it all the time when you rubbing it up and down my thighs." He said smirking.
"First of all, you're out of line. I'm married and I love him. And I don't think you understand that if these inappropriate comments get back to my husband, he'll kill us both with no hesitation." I explained. "I am doing you a favor by helping you recover but keep in mind I don't have to. This is my job and it's what helps keep clothes on the back and food on the table so I do it. We are strictly therapist and patient. So please do not play with me." I said standing up."You not going to help me up?" He asked as I started towards the door.
"I'm on break." I said slamming it behind me.
I walked into the lounge and plopped down on the couch.
"You look tired." One of my co-workers Jennifer.
"I am Jen, he's a dick."
"You think, why you think none of us wanted to work with him?" Another Tajah added.
"He's been here before love, and I was in your place. It got so bad that I almost lost my job for dropping a weight on his chest." Another Michelle added.
I chuckled but I loved my job too much to lose it over him.
"He's causing personal problems now." I said.
"What you mean?" Tajah asked.
"Me and Chase are fighting like we haven't been married for three years and been together for five. We hardly sleep together. We don't talk. And it's all that niggas fault."
"Elaborate." Michelle said.
"He requested that he have extended therapy hours. Me being his therapist means I have to stay those hours. Some nights I don't get home until after 11. Chase is a stickler about knowing my wearabouts and shit like that, and I can't even call him to tell him I'm working late. I don't get to spend time with my daughter. And emotionally and mentally, I haven't gotten the chance to mourn." I said as a tear rolled down my cheek."Love, that's something you need to go through with your husband. The more you shut him out and push him away the more likely he is to leave." Michelle said, and I took everything shit said into consideration.
I got up and headed back into the room with Michael.
"You done crying?" He asked.
"Are you done being a dick!?" I yelled.
"Whoa there. Seeing that you basically work for me, I suggest you check that tone." He said smirking.
"And seeing that it's up to me and my exercises whether you recover or not. I suggest you check your tone, before you walk out of here with the same career threatening no injury you came in with." I said smirking back.***
Hours had past and it was finally time for me to go home. It was 9 o clock. I'm sure Cai was in the bed sleeping by now.
I unlocked the front door and headed into the house. All the lights were off except the one from the TV in the living room.I took a seat next to Chase.
"I'm sorry." I said playing with my hands.
"For?" He asked not looking at me.
"Failing you as a wife."
For the first time in a while he looked at me long and hard but without an angry expression.
"Come here." He said pulling me close to him. "You didn't fail me."
"I did because if I hadn't, we would have two children right now." I said crying into his chest. This was my first time crying about it since it happened and it was long overdue. If you don't understand, go back to chapter 6 in Make It Count.
