Caden POV

I had to bury my Bestfriend and a really good friend a little over a month ago, and it was hard as hell. But I couldn't continue to dwell on what ifs. Because now I had to focus on making life easier for my sons. Mariah would be getting induced this week, since she was well overdue.

We decided to work things out for the baby's sake. And plus she and I both knew I could take care of Julian on my own.

"I want this." Julian said placing the cookies in the basket.
"And this." He said placing different cookies in the basket. I could say no. Because I know he didn't need that but why would I do that? He's going through just like I am. He can have whatever he wants.

"Are you excited about having a little brother?" I asked him.
"Yes daddy. What will his name be?"
"I don't know yet." I really hadn't put much thought into what we could name him. But I guess we probably should.

We continued grocery shopping and then went to check out. After getting our bags we headed to the car. I put him in his seat and then put the bags away.

It was dark out but it was still warm.
I smiled to myself getting an idea. I closed the trunk getting into the drivers seat and heading to the house.

When we got there , I got Julian out and the started for the groceries. I grabbed all the bags so I wouldn't have to make a second trip.
Then headed into the house. Only to find Julian sitting in Mariah's lap eating chips. I shook my head taking the groceries to the kitchen as I began putting them away.

"You know you still haven't gone to get my things from my dads." Mariah said from behind me.
"If you would have never gone so far it might be easier for me to get. But I'm a little bit busy right now."
"Well I'm getting induced this week, so when do you plan to get it? Most of the babies things are there."
I turned to her giving her a look.
"I'll get it." I said putting the last of groceries away.

I took in her appearance. She wore some skinny jeans, sandals, and a button down shirt that showed her very large belly.
"Get Julian. We are going somewhere." I said kissing her cheek before heading upstairs.

Mariah POV

He kissed me then rushed out the room. I wonder what he had up his sleeve.
I waddled back into the living room and looked at a sleeping Julian. I smiled small. I wondered if my son will be like him. He is the sweetest little boy ever. And he's been through so much. He rarely talks to me. Hell, he rarely talks to anyone except for Caden. He talks to me when he's looking for Caden. When I first came back it made me feel sad like he didn't like me until Caden told me he had selective mutism and it was by choice that he didn't talk. I asked what made him that way and he said the accident so I was completely understanding.

But he really took a liking to me, and I loved him like my own.
"Jet." I said pushing his curls out his face.
He squinted his eyes before smiling at me.
"We're going to go somewhere with your dad. Do you need to use the bathroom?"
He shook his head yes, and I took his hand and led him to the bathroom.

When we came out Caden was on the couch on his phone. When he noticed us he stood, and came my way, picking up Julian.
We left, and locked up the house behind us.

"Mariah." I peeled my eyes open and took in my surroundings. We were at the beach.
"It's beautiful." I said as he helped me out the car. He took one of my hands while Julian took the other.

We headed towards a seated area with a small tent over it. There was three seats. And we sat down in them. Music filled the air from the live band. And a man brought us our food.

It was cooked to perfection. I cut Julians food up and say it in front of him.
"This is perfect babe." I said.
"We haven't done anything together in a while with everything going on. So I felt you deserved it since things are about to change when the baby comes."
"Well thank you."
"Anytime."
The wind started to pick up.
"Get his jacket, it's getting kind of windy." I said to Caden. He smiled getting Julians Nike windbreaker out of his Thomas the Train bookbag.
"I can't wait to see you with our son."
I smiled.

After dinner, Julian was fast asleep in Caden's arms as we stood on the beach.
"This is so peaceful. Once the baby is born we should come here more often."I suggested placing my hand on my very swollen stomach.
"Okay." Was all he said with his arm thrown over my shoulder.

I felt wetness flow down my jeans and looked down at the large spot.
"Um Caden..."I said.
"My water just broke."
