The punishment

"Hey! That's not fair she did walk down the stairs we all saw it."


"Aimee hun she can't hear you."


We all sit down on the stairs as we see everything around us move as if in fast forward. Donna still hasn't spoken since seeing Lila, which is weird as this is the part she would usually freak at and want to leave, but it's like she is in a trance.


*Donna's pov*


All I can hear in my head is Lila singing. She has such a sweet, hypnotic voice and its like she was looking directly towards me while singing, like somehow it should mean something to me. Aimee and Cassie seem to not have noticed at all. I feel like she is directly asking me for........ Something, I don't even know what. I wish I knew so I could help her I wish there was a way I could save her. I look down at my feet and see my Nike's just out of the box and wonder why I use so much money on stuff I don't really need. I mean my parents are, were both wealthy and threw cash at me to keep me out of the way, and then my mum passed, last year and left everything to me, her only child. Once news got out that I had millions in the bank 'friends' started to fall from the sky. Lucky for me I already had Aimee and Cassie plus a couple of other friends, so I was happy to turn the new ones down.


I was studying Law when I got the news about mum being sick, and so far I haven't gone back. It all just seems so unimportant now; I was only studying it to please my father and since mums passing he has hardly spoken to me anyway. He said that I got in her head at then end so she would leave him nothing, as if! I should start donating it and leave enough to set me up comfortably for life. I don't want the mansion or the cars anyway. Give me a beautiful home and people to share it with and I'm happy. Maybe I should talk to the girls about getting a place together, we have been friends since we were kids, plus we are all 21 and have the same general taste in houses.


*dong dong*


The clock says it's 2:00 pm, time to visit the punishment room I guess.


Aimee's pov


*dong dong*


"I guess it's go time," I say to no one in particular as I stand up and watch Lila walk, with her head down, from the classroom to the top of the stairs.


"Quick Aimee, what are you doing?" Cassie says looking down at me from halfway up.


"Oh nothing"


We all run up the stairs in time to see Lila turn into another hallway.


"God damn that girl can move."


We continue running, but she has disappeared.


"Shit!" I say


"Aimee why were you taking so long!" Cassie asks.


"What, me? You could have gone head and called out."


"Yea coz you're amazing at directions and all. You still look at your hands to figure out left and right."


"Hey! I just was never taught t.."


"Guys! Stop fighting she is in here" Donna says turning to look at us from the last door in the hallway.


"How did you work that out?"


"I just know ok, well come on."


"All right keep your knickers on."


Cass and I walk towards her, as Donna pushes open the door.


*1955* Lila's pov


"Well, well Lila in trouble again. Do you know what day it is? Hmm?" Sister Emily mocks.


"Umm....July 17th?"


"Correct which me tomorrow is?"


"J....July 18th?"


"Correct again and what happens on July 18th, Lila?"


"It's, its m..m.my birthday."


"Mmhmm and how old will you be?"


"Ssss"


"STOP THAT! You stupid girl! And answer my question"


"....six"


"Very good so what happens tomorrow Lila do you know?"


"Yes, sister. The other girls in my room told me"


"Then what will happen?"


"You will steal my soul and sell it for beauty."
