Annabell's P.O.V.
****************
"No problemo neighbor." The woman who helped me with my box disappeared behind a door after giving me a weak salute. I rolled my shoulders, lifted up the box again and brought it into my apartment. After placing it in a pile, I sat down on the only put together piece of furniture in the place, my couch. I groaned, put my hands on my face, and laid down.
"Okay, I either need friends, or I need to start working out more." I said to myself. I suddenly scoffed at the thought of getting friends. "Yeah, like anyone would actually want to be friends with me. They all either want money, or get pissed that I don't tell them I have money." I sat up and looked at my mess of an apartment. I decided to unpack as much as I can now because it might not get done later.
At around 1:30 in the morning I decided I'd done enough and can go to sleep. I had put together all my furniture, put it where I wanted it, and I then started unpacking. I started with my clothes, got those put away, and then I got to my books. While my furniture and my clothes took a good two and a half hours, I spent the rest of my time on my books.
After finding the perfect place for each book, I changed into some short shorts and a cami; my go-to sleeping attire. I took out my contacts, threw up my hair, washed my face, brushed my teeth, and crawled into the bed I just made. I made sure my glasses were by my bed, along with my charging phone and I drifted off to sleep.
BEEPBEEPBEEP..BEEPBEEPBEEP...BEEPBEEPBEEP...
I opened my eyes and wondered what the hell was going on. It felt like I had just fallen asleep. I stumbled out of bed, grabbed my glasses and my phone, and groggily headed to my door. I slipped on my flip flops, grabbed my keys and followed the crowd down the stairs and outside.
As I stepped outside, I regretted my decision in sleeping in shorts and a cami because I was cold the moment I stepped outside. I walked to the sidewalk and tried to keep warm. I felt eyes on me but I ignored them and continued my mission to try and keep warm. Out of the corner of my eye I saw the woman from earlier walk her way over to me. She reached me, smiled and threw her Supernatural blanket around my shoulders, so we could share it.
"Thank you." I whispered to her, happy to get out of the cold, and away from the prying eyes.
"No problemo, neighbor. I couldn't watch a fellow lady friend be looked at like meat and not step in. It would break the honor code." She had a mischievous gleam in her eye that told me she was teasing. I grinned at her.
"My name's Annabell Drake." I introduced, suddenly remembering that she didn't know my name.
"I'm Diana Fischbach." Feeling relieved to know her name, I smiled. She suddenly smiled back at me. Hmm, maybe I wouldn't be all alone in L.A.
About a half an hour later, I saw my landlord walking toward us and the rest of the disgruntled residents from the apartment building.
"Hello everyone! Sorry for the inconvenience of this, but until we are able to figure out what set off the alarms, we are unable to let you back in the building. It might take a while, so you might want to find a place to stay for a while." After we heard the news, you could hear a large groan.
"Shit." I cursed under my breath. Diana gave me a look of concern.
"What's the matter?"
"It's just that I have nowhere to go. My wallet is still in my apartment, so I can't get a hotel, and I don't have any family in L.A. so I don't know what to do." I ran my fingers threw my bangs, shoved my glasses on the top of my head, and rubbed my eyes. Diana rubbed the back of her neck.
"You know, I have a brother who lives not that far from here. That's where I'm planning on going, and I'm sure he won't mind." She looked at me, waiting for an answer.
"I don't know, I don't want to impose."
"Oh no, It'll be fine. Mark won't care. He's a really good guy, and he won't mind helping a pretty girl like you, especially if I tell him your cool." There was a small smile on her lips and hope in her eyes.
"If you insist, I guess." Her smile bloomed into a grin, she grabbed my arm, and pulled me towards a car.
"Come on! My cars over here."
"Wait! I have my own car, and if you don't mind i'd like to drive myself." She stopped pulling me.
"Oh, okay! I get it. If I were going to a strange neighborhood I would want my car with me too," She smiled at me and let go of my arm. "Just follow me." I smiled at her and jogged to my car. I unlocked it, climbed in, and followed Diana to our destination.
We arrived at an apartment building after about 20 minutes of driving. We parked, and walked into the building. I followed closely behind, trying not to look as nervous as I felt. We walked to an elevator and headed up to the 4th floor. Diana led me to a door and knocked four forceful times. I flinched at the sudden lack of silence. After about 2 minutes Diana knocked again.
"What, did he actually go to bed at a decent time? What is this?" A small smile played on my lips as Diana mumbled to herself. I guessed her brother stays up as late as I do. After knocking two more times, we resorted to calling him.
"Hey big bro! Where you at? Are you actually sleeping? Hey answer your phon- hey! Yeah, I know what time it is. Mark, just come open your door. I'll explain everything when you open your door." She then hung up and crossed her arms. About a minute later, a man looking a lot like Diana opened the door looking annoyed and disgruntled. His dark hair was everywhere, he had on square black rimmed glasses, and black sweat it pants with 'M's with pink mustaches.
"What in the world-" He stopped when his eyes landed on me. I suddenly felt uncomfortable in just my pj's, and blood suddenly flowed to my face. "Who's she?"
