Brittany decides to keep her baby and finds out that it's a girl. She tells Josh about the news. He becomes upset about keeping the baby.
Meanwhile, Terri unfriends Brittany and Naomi for making fun of her. She stays in touch with Tessa.
Josh and Terri eat lunch together with his baseball buddies.
Josh is training hard for the upcoming baseball game against Earl Grey High School and Coach Kantor informs them that their performance in the game will decide who will make it to the final cuts. After practice is over, Josh and Jake stay behind. Jake warns Josh that he's going to be late for homeroom, but Josh is so focused on his training he continues to practice. Jake assures him that he's doing fine already, but Josh says fine is not good enough. He shoots the ball again and makes the shot with Jake cheering him on.
Josh gets to class late with Ms. Baldwin expecting an assignment from him, but Josh informs her that his homework is not ready. Ms. Baldwin alerts him that he has been falling behind and that she's worried that he's not going to be able to balance out both his academics and extracurricular activities at once.
Meanwhile, Naomi arrives at the morning announcements room late, with Brittany impatiently waiting. She tells Naomi to be on time more often. She then takes Naomi's note cards and starts reading them in front of the camera. Naomi heads to homeroom and tells her friends that television is so stressful. Matt notices that Brittany doesn't seem stressed. Terri agrees and says that she's better than the people on the news. Listening to Brittany read her notes, Naomi informs her friends that those were her words that she wrote and put together. Tessa tells Naomi that she finds it unfair how Brittany takes all the glory for her work. The others all agree and suggest that it's time that Naomi talked to her about sharing the video announcement air time equally.
In the meantime, Ms. Baldwin's class is still discussing the book they have been reading, To Kill A Mockingbird. Remembering that Josh had not yet handed in his assignment, she asks him about his thoughts on chapter 9. Josh tells her that it was great. Ms. Baldwin continues and asks him if he could relate to any of the characters. Josh freezes up and Ms. Baldwin realizes that he still has not read the book. Out in the hall, Jake tries to calm Josh down by reassuring him that Ms. Baldwin can't stop him from playing in the game. Josh reminds Jake that if he falls behind, Ms. Baldwin will talk to Coach Kantor who needed to cut 3 out of 15 players for a team of 12.
At lunchtime, Naomi walks up to Brittany and requests that she could go on air and recite the announcements. Brittany is surprised and says that she's a performer while Naomi is a writer and reminds her that they are very different. Brittany suggests that Naomi can do it next year.
The boys are back in the gym practicing, but Josh is reading his English book on the bench. Coach Armstrong calls him to take his turn and Josh gets up and takes a shot, but the class was actually practicing on their lay ups. Coach warns Josh that if he can't pay attention and keep up and would rather read, he could easily cut him from the team.
