I followed Meg. My thoughts were racing and I needed to process everything. You can say thinking too much is a bad habit of mine.
"So where's your stuff?" Megan asked while loading the dishwasher.
"Uhh... Stuff?" I looked at her confused and she just laughed.
"You did bring more than your cellphone, right? We are going on a trip after all and you will need clean clothes and other things." She smiled and put the last cup in the washer. She washed her hands and sat down at the table.
"Oh, yeah. I did." I said. I was playing with my bracelet.
Patrick gave it to me when we were younger. When we still were friends... I wonder what he is doing now. He is probably somewhere with Blair all happy. Why had our friendship to end like that? But at least I got closer. Many people even don't get that.
"Earth to Jenn." Meg was waving her hands before my eyes and my focus came back.
"Did you hear what I was saying to you?" She asked and I shook my head.
"Sorry, I was just thinking." I gave her a weak smile.
"Anyway, I was just telling you to go grab all your stuff so we can put it in Austin's car."
"Why Austin's car? Aren't you driving?" I looked at her shocked. I have a bad feeling about this.
"No, silly. I don't have my drivers license yet so Austin is driving us. He has nothing better to do anyway so he volunteered to drive me."
"It was probably before he knew that I was coming as well," I mumbled.
"What's up with you two? It is weird between you. Austin I get, he is afraid of girls and just annoying and rude. But you? Why you act so weird?" She stared at me and I think if I lied she would see right through me. Time to tell the truth.
"Me and Austin kind of already met..." I trailed off knowing that there would be questions coming from Meg.
"What? When? How? Did you and my brother... "
"Oh god no!" I exclaimed and stopped her before this got even more awkward.
"Okay, but then how do you know him?" She asked and crossed her arms on her chest.
"Ugh... Well, long story short we met at the park and I was a total dick to him and now he probably hates me. Not probably, definitely." I said and sighed.
How did this even happen?
"Oh, you are that weird girl he told me about." She laughed and shook her head.
"The world is so small sometimes." I smiled at her and she grinned at me. She had that look on her face. The look I feared.
"Listen, Jenn. He doesn't hate you, actually when he got back from the park he told me that..."
"Khem. I told her that you were just really weird. That's it nothing else." Austin was standing in the doorway and gave her sister a stink eye and shook his head.
If he thought that I didn't catch that, then he must think I am not only weird but blind as well.
"Austin! We were just talking about you." Meg exclaimed and winked at me. Her eyes were sparkling and I felt that the next words out of her mouth would be bad.
"Yeah, we were," I said before she could say anything. She looked a bit disappointed.
"Anyway, Jenn needs help with her bags. Austin, go and help her!" Meg ordered him and stood up.
