Hope's POV:

Once I finished dinner and helped put everything in the sink, I sped off towards Carrie's home but not before moms made me a to go plate for her.

Oh moms. Always thinking of others. It's a steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes with plastic utensils and a few napkins. I even got a water for my mate too.

I stop just outside of her house and listen closely. Two strong heartbeats. One's slower than the other indicating their asleep.

I glance around quickly making sure no one is watching before jumping on the roof next to the window I seen Carrie look at me through when I came here to ask her if she wanted to go out and get ice cream.

As I peak in the window I find her at her desk rocking back and forth as she stares down at a book. I gently tap at her window and her head snaps towards me.

Her eyes widen and she quickly comes over, pushing up her window. Instantly my gaze narrow in on the tear tracks on her cheeks along with her red eyes.

She's been crying. Why has she been crying? "You came," she breathes out and I frown slightly.

"Of course I did. I promised you and I will always follow through with it," I gently declare in a soft tone and she gives me a small smile.

I smile softly and hold out the container. "My mom wanted to make sure you ate so she packed me a to-go plate for you. It's steak with asparagus and mashed potatoes. And I brought you a water," I softly announce as I pulled the cold bottle of water out of my hoodie.

Carrie grabs them carefully with a blush. "Thank you. I-I would invite you in but momma would find out. She always does," she responds before telling me and swallows nervously.

My eye twitches slightly at her scared tone. Her mother will be dead soon. "That's okay, Carrie. Don't worry about it," I reassure her with a smile despite the rage building up inside me for her mother.

She frowns slightly before setting the container and water bottle down on her windowsill before grabbing her desk chair and set it at the window then took a seat.

I sit down on her roof and gaze down at her. She carefully opens the container and pulls out the utensils with the napkins. "How are you doing, Carrie? With what happened today," I quietly ask noting the way her hand shakes slightly and I bite my tongue to suppress the snarl that wants to be let out.

'They're all dead! All of them!' The voices roar in my head and I agree silently as I keep my soft gaze on my mate who looks up. Our eyes connect instantly.

"I-I was scared and confused. Momma didn't tell me about this p-period? All girls go through it. Do you?" She stutters slightly as she fiddles with her fingers in her lap.

I chuckle quietly and lean my head against the frame of her window. "No. I'm different than normal girls. Glenda and my mom go through it but I don't," I answer in a soft tone and she bites her lip slightly as her gaze flicker down to my lap briefly.

"Because you have b-boy parts?" She questions in the most innocent but curious tone ever. I smile softly at her. Oh my adorable innocent mate.

She has no idea what I'd do for her. "Yes. I don't go through what you girls go through because I have boy parts and not regular girl parts. My mom educated all of us about it despite the boys and I not having girl parts. She wants us to know everything so it will be easier for everyone around us. If you're not comfortable talking to your mom or me, I can ask her to talk to you about it. She's a really nice woman," I explain quietly, smiling slightly hoping it will ease her nerves.
