In Dreams He Came to Me

I thought it was a memory at first.

I was back in human form in my old room in the dorms, but it was quiet. I heard a knock on the door and called," Come in!" I expected Pike or Lilie. But instead Fakir strode in. "Fakir!" I reached my arms out to him and he pulled me into his arms. I was so content in his arms, I wanted to stay there forever. But it my happiness faded with his next words.

"Duck, why did you leave me?" He whispered in my ear.

"Fakir?"

"I gave up everything for you and you left me." I struggled in his arms and he just pulled me in closer to him. "Duck, why did you do it?"

"You left me for Pike!" I could feel the resentment building up again.

"I loved you Duck but you let Drosselmeyer separate us. You didn't fight for us."

The anger left me and all I could do was whimper, "I thought you would be happy, I thought you loved her."

"I can't believe you thought I would love anyone but you. Or maybe I was naive to think you could love anyone other than Mytho." He stood up and started walking away.

"Fakir, Fakir!" But he didn't stop. He just opened the door and then left.

I ran after him, and once I got out of the door, I was no longer in the dorm but at my old pond.

Next to me stood a boy with Mytho's hair and Rue's eyes, beautiful yet haunted. He reached out his hand to me and said in Adelberto's voice "You have to save me Duck." He began to walk into the water and it acted like quicksand pulling him in slowly, all while he repeated "You have to save me Duck." I tried to walk forward and grab him but I too was slowly sinking into the ground. I heard a cry from the other side of the pond and Mytho and Rue stood there reaching towards their son, crying "Duck please!" As I sunk deeper and deeper, I could hear them all.

"You never really loved me did you Duck?"

"You have to save me Duck!

"Duck please!"

But I couldn't even save myself. I was only Duck, not some magical hero that could save them. It was about to finally fall into the ground, when I felt myself being shaken awake.

I woke up to Mytho looking at me in amazement. "Princess Tutu! You're back!"
