As we entered the Castle I looked around a little afraid of what I might find. Creepy maids and butlers whose eyes followed your every move? But there was nothing. It lacked all basic furniture and it seemed to be empty. The only reason I hadn't turned back was because Mytho had continued walking. That was the only thing he had done since we entered the castle was move forward with almost desperate steps, never looking back at me. We finally stopped when we
reached a door far more ornate than any of the others we had passed. He finally turned and looked at me then."This used to be the throne room, back when...." he stopped talking and got a vacant look in his eyes.
I grabbed his arm a little concerned "Mytho? Are you okay?" He just nodded and shoved on the door, and it opened with a groan. I carefully walked in and saw that like the rest of the Castle it looked empty. Except for in the front of the room, but the only thing there was a woman with her face in her hands, her hair a mix of black and gray. Mytho rushed towards her and carefully pried her hands away from her face. He said something in a voice so soft I couldn't hear and then she looked straight up at me.
"Duck?" she creaked. Was that Rue? It couldn't be she looked so old, so tired. She left the throne and came towards me and I backed away as subtly as I could. But she still managed to run forward and catch me. She held me at an arms length from her so I could see the desperation in her eyes as she talked to me, " Duck you have to save my son, you have to." Her voice wavered as she talked and she grabbed me and hugged me tightly to her, as if testing if I was real. She buried her face in my hair and out of the corner of my eye I could see Mytho with tears in his eyes. What had happened to them?
