Ashton, Michael, and Luke immediately grabbed their guns from their holsters and aimed them at me. I'd never had a gun aimed my way so I flinched back and tried to hide behind my arms.

Calum scrambled to his feet and stood in front of me, his arms out to protect me further.

"Don't even think about it." he hissed.

Looking at the three of them, it was obvious Luke and Michael looked like they really didn't want to be doing this. Ashton, however, showed zero emotion. He just wanted to do his job.

"She's been turned into one of them," Ashton argued, "we have to get rid of her!"

Calum stepped toward him and although I couldn't see his face, I knew he was glaring, "If you touch her, I'll kill you myself."

I could already feel myself starting to feel odd. I was feeling dizzy and like my breathing was off. Soon, I'd completely lose my mind and that thought scared me. I never actually spent time to think about the possibility of getting infected because I knew I was good at what I did. I was terrified to be infected and I was terrified of dying, not because I'd no longer be alive but because Calum would be alone.

How could I have been so careless and thoughtless? I stood too close to an infected lying on the ground. I never thought I'd go out this easily. Just like with Quin, I was careless.

"Guys, we need to move." Luke said worriedly. "I can hear some closing in because of the yelling."

"Look, let's just take her instead of the other one." Michael cut in. "It's a win-win, right? No one has to kill Kit and Calum can at least see her for the next day."

I was slowly losing myself but I was trying to fight it. I didn't want this to happen but it was inevitable.

Calum sighed, "Fine."

Ashton nodded and put his gun away, "Michael, give me the tranquilizer. Luke, get the restraints off the other one and start putting them on her. Kit...just stay with us as long as you can."

I nodded but it came out jerky. I found it hard to move my body. I couldn't even find my voice to speak.

I watched as Michael handed over his tranquilizer gun to Ashton and he pointed it at me, "Calum, say your goodbyes while you can."

I felt Calum's familiar arms wrap tightly around me. He pressed a warm kiss to the side of my forehead and kept his lips there, whispering, "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you. I realize how you felt three years ago. I'm so sorry, Katerina."

I didn't know if I reacted or not. I didn't feel like I was in my own body anymore.

"I have to do it now." Ashton said.

I hardly even saw the tranquilizer shoot toward me.

"Kitty!" Quin squealed as she ran toward me from her first grade classroom. I had waited for her so we could get on the bus together since it was her first day. She hugged my waist and smiled up at me. "I missed you, Kitty!"

"I missed you too, Quincy." I told her. "How was your first day at big kid school?"

Her smile turned into a frown, "The kids are mean to me."

That made me frown too, "Why?"

"They said I'm too slow and I talk funny sometimes." she said sadly. "Am I different, Kitty?"

I ignored her question, too angry that my sister was already being bullied, "Who said that to you?"

She turned back to the door she just came out of where more kids were already pouring out. She pointed to a girl with light brown hair and hazel eyes. She had a pink backpack with Tweety Bird on it, "Her."

I quickly walked in front of the girl, blocking her path. I saw fear in her eyes at she looked up at me because an older kid had come to talk to her.

"What's your name?" I asked her.

"L-Lauren." she stuttered.

"Were you picking on my sister, Quin?"

She looked over and saw Quin standing by the wall, looking up at the colorful posters that the first grade classes had probably made that day, "She's y-your sister?"

I nodded, "And she said you were making fun of her for something she can't help."

"She's just slow," Lauren shrugged, "and she talks weird."

"Well she can't control how she talks or learns, so back off." I snapped.

Lauren nodded quickly and hurried around me, running out the school doors to the bus. I walked back to my little sister, proud of myself for defending her like I was supposed to.

"Problem solved." I smiled down at her.

She beamed up at me and took my head, starting to lead me outside, "Kitty, you're the bestest sister ever!"

I wanted to put in a lil flashback of Quin and Kit, and there will probably be more too. But now it's gonna be in Calum's view for a while and maybe the other three boys idk
