[The next day, Lydia grabbed her bike and rode to the store. She walked right in, ignoring the “Closed” sign.]

Lydia: Y/n? Y/n… are you here?

Y/n: Over here!

[She followed his voice to the back and found him standing in front of a table, a metal can in front of him, his arm stretched out toward it.]

Lydia: What are you doing?

Y/n: Trying to crush the can.

[Lydia sat down beside him, noticing that more of his hair had turned green.]

Lydia: Do you think I’ll work?

Y/n: Don’t know… I’ve been at this for four hours.

Lydia: Can I ask you something?

Y/n: Sure.

Lydia: Do you remember your parents?

Y/n: Bits and pieces. I remember an Italian woman with long black hair. Her smile… and then I see an axe.

Lydia: An axe?

Y/n: Weird, right? I don’t really remember my father. When I was a kid, I’d see… things.

Lydia: Like what?

Y/n: Like time. It would feel too fast, too slow… like I was existing outside of it.

Lydia: You’re really weird. But… I think I like that about you.

[He turned to her, a small smile forming on his face.]

Y/n: I like your weirdness, too.

[Their smiles lingered, soft and easy, like neither of them wanted to break the moment. Slowly, almost hesitantly, they inched closer to each other, their knees brushing.]

[Lydia suddenly turned her head and stared at the metal can.]

Lydia: Y/n!

[Y/n followed her gaze and froze. The metal can wasn’t a can anymore, it had somehow morphed into a delicate rose, its petals shimmering slightly under the light.]

[Y/n slowly reached out and picked up the rose, his eyes wide with shock.]

Y/n: …How…?

Lydia: How can you do that?

[Y/n turned the rose over in his hands, still trying to process it.]

Y/n: I… I don’t know. But… I plan to find out.

[Lydia smiled, a mixture of awe and admiration lighting her face.]

Lydia: Well, whatever it is, it’s… incredible.

[Y/n looked at her, a small grin forming despite the confusion.]

Y/n: Yeah… incredible. And maybe… a little scary.

[They shared a quiet laugh, the rose between them acting like a new, mysterious bridge to the unknown.]

[Y/n’s eyes lit up as an idea struck him. He took Lydia’s hand and led her to the backroom, closing the door behind them.]

Lydia: What are you doing?

[Y/n went straight to the counter and grabbed a piece of paper, the one he had drawn of the sandworm monster world as a kid.]

Y/n: Ever since I was a kid… I’ve dreamed about this world. I’m going to see if it’s real.

[He grabbed a piece of tape and carefully stuck the drawing to the backroom door. Then he stepped back, the light in the room beginning to glow strangely. Lydia instinctively reached out and touched his head.]
