A/N: I made a change to the end of the last chapter, so make sure that you read it before reading this new chapter. Thanks
------------------------------------------Tate looked up at Violet. She she looked down at her feet, avoiding eye contact with him. "I, um, wanted to tell you that I recognize what you did yesterday shows. Trying to save Cassie was really kind of you. Even my parents agree with that. And considering that we are stuck here forever, I'm willing to talk to you," she said.
Tate looked like he could cry. Violet was still avoiding eye contact, so she was surprised when he crossed the room and hugged her. Violet flinched and Tate let go, but he didn't step away from her. Violet took a few steps toward me, away from Tate. "I said talk, and I could always change my mind," she said. Tate's face fell. "Okay," he whispered. Violet walked over to me and sat down.
I had never heard silence quite this loud. I decided to break it. "What do you do here everyday?" I ask her. She gives me a small, sad smile. "Sometimes I help my mom, or play with Beau, but usually a lot of nothing. I can't wait for Halloween," she said.
"Why, what's so significant about Halloween? Isn't it just another day?" I ask, looking from Violet to Tate, asking for an explanation.
"You didn't tell her?" Violet asked. Tate shook his head. "Halloween is the one night a year that we can leave this house. Lucky for you it's only a few days away," she said. My mood immediately got better. I smiled.
"If you go out, just be careful. When you're reported missing, it would be suspicious if you were seen walking around. I would either go unnoticed or wear a mask." he said.
"What do you guys usually do on Halloween?" I asked. "I usually restock my cigarette stash and get a new lighter," Violet said. "Sometimes I just walk around too." We then looked to Tate, awaiting his answer.
"I haven't left the house in six years," he said. Violet looked down. "We should change that then," I said. At that he smiled and walked over to us. He sat down between me and Violet. We stayed there and talked for hours. For once, I wasn't to worried about being stuck here forever.
