I found it as soon as I made it to the house. Police tape still wrapped itself around the house, but I ducked under and ran to the corner of the house. Sure enough, a little black glove lay under the dirt and bushes. Hair was in the fibers of the little glove, and it only made me happier. I pulled latex gloves on and grabbed the thing quickly, afraid it might disappear if I closed my eyes. "You got it?" Murphy yelled through the car window. I ran over to him, afraid that it might vaporize into figments of my imagination before he could see it. A smile lit his face as he realized what I was holding in my hands, and what this would do for Desiree. I jumped in, and before the door was even closed we were zooming off to the Empire State Building once more.

A man pulled up in a long black van to the house as soon as Charlie and Murphy left. He ran over to that same corner of the house with the glove have been hidden and slammed his fist against the wall as he realized it was gone. Running back to his car he was doing the way to the department so he could secure his next plan including Desiree forever. He had to come up with a way to keep her safe never find. She is mine, He thought to himself as he tried to maintain composure. She will forever be mine, he thought, and they can do nothing to take her away from me. The drive back to the apartment didn't help his nerves, and he just wanted to get there so you could prove th at she was still there.
His pager went off in the seat next to him a message from Murphy, summoning holding the report building DNA testing to see if anyone of them anything to do with Desiree's kidnapping. He slammed into the steering wheel of the van and turned around, get to the Empire State building. This was supposed to be a full proof plan, I thought there was no way that they would win, he thought angrily.
As the van pulled into the parking lot of the Empire State building, the man grab the small gone but he kept in his glove box and stepped out of the car. He would end this today.

Murphy and I ran up to the elevator of the Empire State building and we pushed the button to go down to the forensics lab at the same time. We finally had a clue that would bring us closer to Desiree and kidnapper. I looked at the chief and smiled the first real smile of the day. This whole thing and seem hopeless until the little glove have been spotted by the house. Hopefully the hair could be identified on the glove and we will be one step closer to her. I knew I shouldn't get my hopes up, but I couldn't help myself. This was the first Chief had already sent out a mass page to send every worker of the Empire State building into investigation. We would analyze every worker in the whole building to make sure that the kidnapper was not one of them.
Once all of the workers have been ruled out, it would only be a matter of time before the
real kidnapper was discovered. Murphy and I would look at every person and every personnel to make sure that we would get Desiree back.
As we reached the floor to the front forensics lab, I could hardly keep myself from jumping up-and-down in glee. I grabbed the glove out of Murphy's hand and ran down to the labs throwing it in the scientist face. "This is the one piece of evidence we have," I told them. "Don't ruin it, whatever you do,"
They took it happily and sent it into the labs. "As soon as we have information," They told me "We will give it to you. We want Desiree back as much as you do."
Satisfied, Murphy and I walked back to the elevators and headed up to the office. Once we arrived, we were bombarded by workers all confused as the next.
"Calm down everyone, calm down!" Murphy shouted to control the situation quickly. "We found a clue to Desiree's location or something that might help. In order to do this investigation successfully, we need all of you to submit to DNA testing. This is a mandatory requirement. No exceptions. I want you all to lineup single file and prepare yourselves for some testing. We know none of you have anything to do with this, but we are just taking safety measures. This will in no way hurts your careers as private investigators here in New York. But if it turns out you know something and you don't tell us then you will be punished. This is a life and death situation, and I will not take any of this lightly."
I ran to Murphy's office to grab the first set of testers. They all sat down and started asking me questions right away. I waved off their concerns and tried my best to explain what would happen in this procedure. I took needles and took their blood. It was sent down immediately to be tested as a match to the glove. For two hours I continued this in this way, hoping that is one of these people might be a match. I knew it was extremely unlikely, but I had my hopes. By tomorrow we would hopefully know who we were dealing with, and if not, we would still be one step closer to finding out who this person was.

Danny slammed his fist into the sink of the men's bathroom. He had no option but to comply with the testing. I better have not been stupid enough to bleed on my glove, he thought to himself. I can do this, she is mine.

After everyone had given up some blood, Charlie sent down in the chiefs' desk once more. Murphy walked in soon after followed by Danny and Victor. They all exchanged high-fives and congratulatory hugs as they sat down and relaxed for the first time in the day.
"I can't believe we did all of this and just one day," Murphy said as he looked from Charlie to Danny to Victor. "I am proud of all of you he said. I couldn't have done this without you. We owe it to Desiree to find her. And now, because of the work we have done today, I feel we are one step closer to getting her back."
"I'm just glad I looked at that damn picture," Charlie said and everyone laughed. "If I had to skip over that picture, we would have nowhere to go from here. We would still be in the same stupid place we had been this morning but, because Murphy over here insisted that we looked through every little piece of DNA evidence that we had I saw the glove. And now we are closer, I can feel it in my bones."

As soon as the meeting was over, Danny slipped back into the men's bathroom and looked down at his hands. He made a mental note to himself or gloves whenever he tried something like this again. He had to come up with a new plan to make sure Desiree was still his by the time the week was over. I know what I have to do, I just don't want to do it, he thought to himself. As he left the bathroom a thought hit him like a lightning bolt. He now knew what he had to do, and it was a simple thing. Grabbing his gun out of his jacket he slid it into his pants as he walked to the elevator door. He made mental notes of all the cameras in the whole building as he left. Once he was in his car, he drove off faster than he thought possible.
When he made it back to the apartment, Desiree was still sleeping on his bed. She had cuts on her wrist and ankles and her shoulder was swollen double its size. He lay down next to her and smiled at her beauty. She woke up as soon as she felt him touch her. She tried to move, but groaned as her shoulder flared up in pain. "Shhh, stay still," he told her as he pulled her closer to him. She tried to move away but he only pulled her closer. "Stay here," he commanded and she stopped struggling. "You will always be mine he whispered as he lay there with her. "Always."
