A week had passed and not so much as text came upon my phone from Vincent. After arriving at the courthouse, Chase and I did indeed elope. Signing our names on the marriage license was the best decision I had ever made. I was now Mrs. Adelaide Locke. Lisa and Jason flipped when they discovered the news but I knew it would get back to Jason. So I decided to pay Vincent a visit-a very public visit just to end this once and for all.
"Miss Gerharrd...What a surprise..."
"I'm not here for anything. I just wanted to tell you some things-"
"I see. That you chose him, that you'll wake up every morning and iron his suit for work, make his lunch, sit through hours of lectures. Then one day wake up and have an affair with a much younger man just to feel wanted again?"
"Stop saying things like that." But before I could get another word out, he began to shake his head. "You did it? You f***ing married him?"
I nodded. "Yes. I did. And I did it because I wanted him and I want him. I don't mind the ironing or the lectures or even having to be bored-but I will never hurt him again like I already have."
"But you are. Each second you're breathing because you and I both know the one you truly love is me. You always come back to me, no matter the circumstances. You will always love me best and you know it."
"Then why am I here telling you goodbye?"
"You can't let me go. That would mean letting the diner go and everything you've worked for."
"The thing is, everything I've done these past few months was because I was hurt. Because I felt unwanted and undesired. He is the most amazing man I have ever met."
"Would he hurt you?"
"Don't spin this."
"Answer me. If you're going to leave just like that and expect me to move on so fast, tell me. Would he ever hurt you?"
It took me a moment to respond but then I eventually did. "No."
"Then why didn't you tell me over the phone? Is it because you still doubt him? You want me to fight for you? Because you know I will. I don't care what is said about me in the papers, I know that being between your legs and in your heart are the only places I want to be."
"It's in that order though isn't it? You just want someone to fu-"
"No. You know that."
"No, I don't. I never have! In fact, I don't even know how you feel about me. All you do is touch me and screw me until I can't walk. But I need more."
"I was offering you that and you chose him. I just want to know-I deserve to know why."
"Because I can trust him."
"Really? Check his cell phone. Everything there is to know about a cheater is always on their phone-look at us for heavens sakes. Those steamy messages-those naughty pictures, the things he can never make you do that I can...all on there. If you don't find anything then stay away but if you do, I want you back here as my submissive. I want to know you still want me. Because I'm not gonna give up. Not now. Not in months and for sure not in years because I love you."
"You love screwing me."
"It's a bonus Adelaide. I loved you long before you let me be with you, I loved you when I gave you up and I vowed to not do it again. You love me whether you admit it or not. I can prove it."
He walked fast toward me and held my face in his palms before delivering the most passionate and tender kiss I had ever experienced. Suddenly, it didn't feel lustful-it felt as if he truly needed me as his oxygen. He needed me as his everything. But I wasn't some woman who could just end her engagement. I was married now. So I did what any respectable woman would do. I pushed him off. Hard and quick.
"No." I said as I went to leave but his words stopped me.
"Just check his phone. If you do anything for yourself, do that."
I refused to turn and give him the chance to touch me again and ran to the taxi before going back to the apartment. Chase had a late lecture and I was going to discover once and for all if the allegations were true.
