Get ready for romantic fluffs. And angst. Just a little bit.

I didn't have this earlier, but it was inspired by the pic above. Not my pic and I don't know the artist.

Dean's POV:

"So, your younger brother gave you this necklace?" Cas asks, his body on top of mine, fingers twiddling with my necklace.

"Yeah. Sammy gave it to me for Christmas, when we were kids."

"What's Christmas?" Cas asks, still staring at my necklace. "A celebration of some sort?"

I groan, my head hurting the sand. "I need to make you watch some Christmas specials. It's a holiday."

Cas looks me in the eye, squinting.

"You get a pine tree in your house, decorate it with stuff, then wait 'till midnight and give each other presents. Also, gingerbread houses."

"Gingerbread houses?"

"Gingerbread houses."

"...That didn't answer my question."

I chuckle, he's so cluelessly adorable.

It's sunrise. We've been laying here, just talking, for hours now.

Sometime along the way, we just started leaning on each other, leading to the very compromising position we're in now.

In hindsight, this might look really weird to anyone who just happens to walk by.

Cas's fingers touch my cheeks, around my eyes, my cheekbones, my jaw; he threads them through my hair, massaging my head.

"You do have soft hair," Cas mumbles to himself.

"You thought about whether or not I have soft hair?" I say, blocking out the warmness from my cheeks.

"Yes," Cas blushes.

"...I did too."

Cas gets even redder, looking down at my collarbone to avoid my eyes, but he still moves his fingers in my hair.

"I could show you one, show you how to make one," I say, watching how his facial expressions change.

"Make what?"

"A gingerbread house," I chuckle.

Cas pauses for a moment, a sweet smile sneaking in.

"I would like that." Cas slightly frowns after a moment, looking down at my necklace again.

"What is it?"

Cas looks at me sadly. "Humans...can't stay in water for very long, can they?"

"No...why?" I ask, what's with him?

"Mermaids...they can't stay outside of seawater for long either."

"What are you trying to say, Cas?"

He lays his head down on my chest, his right ear laying right above my heart, making my breath hitch.

"I'm never going to be able to see you again. Either of you. I'm trapped in the ocean, and you're trapped on land."

His words sink in, and my hand reaches up to stroke Cas's hair.

"Yeah. I know."

Cas leans into the touch, frowning.

"We have time now. If you keep thinking about how sad you're going to be, you'll never enjoy the time you have now."

Cas lifts his chest up, looking at me scrutinizingly.
