I sincerely hope you enjoy, and I thank you for sticking with me through this. It hasn't been easy and I'm well aware of how... unsatisfactory the 'original' ending was.

I hope these additions take away the bitter taste 'Convalescence' (8) left behind.

The only difference between love and obsession is control and a lack thereof.

Something Blake had kept close to heart — love and hate are learned. They are taught.
But fear?
Fear is primal.
People instinctually know how to be afraid.

Fear comes innately,
but so does conquering it.

Ammon had reminded him of something extremely important.

You don't have to beg; you don't have to crave in silence.
There was no need for want.

When you can just take.

Ammon had fallen asleep first.

Deimos could only think of one other time that had happened. All those years ago. It was the day Deimos betrayed Ammon, abandoned him.

And he was about to do it again.

He wouldn't run away this time, no. That had already proved ineffective; Ammon simply found him again and picked up right where they had left off.

So, he wouldn't run.

He'd just burn everything down.

Blake's words rang in Deimos's ears like a forgotten promise. Deimos knew, from the moment he met Blake, that Blake could handle anything.

Blake was strong. It was Deimos, in fact, that had been weak. What ego he had, taking on this responsibility, to take the abuse Ammon handed him.

Deimos didn't need to protect Blake. Blake could protect himself. Deimos reminisced about that serene feeling. The one that rose up under his skin, giving him goosebumps. Watching the way Blake carved out Callin's flesh.

How could he so easily have forgotten such a liberating sight? How could he have once again chained Blake down in the very binds they used to string up Callin's corpse? The same shackles Blake had fought to escape?

No. Lying in bed next to Blake, stroking Blake's hair as Deimos's golden eyes burned with the flames lit in the fireplace, he could feel the weight of his actions sitting in the pit of his stomach like rocks.

After everything they'd done, Deimos only served to undermine it. The repulsion, the guilt was enough to drive him mad as he stared lovingly down at Blake. Watching the way the light from the fire danced across his face. Deimos couldn't help thinking Blake was beautiful, a small smile etching across his face.

"Forgive me." He whispered into Blake's ear, wrapping his arms around Blake's smaller frame and pulling him close.

Just as Deimos had allowed Blake to take care of Callin in whatever way Blake saw fit, Blake was ready to support Deimos in whatever decision he made.
