Using a knife to pick under my fingernails, I sat back in my chair, looking up to the ceiling, lost in thought.
I don't have anything on my schedule for today so I'm just in my office catching up on old paperwork. While this place is nice, I've got a few places I rotate between since I'd rather not settle into a single location for too long. Makes me uneasy.
I hissed out when I missed my nail and accidentally nicked my finger, watching as blood started to drip down my hand. Sighing, I threw the knife onto the desk with a clatter and opened a drawer to grab a napkin.
Everything I've ever wanted, I got. By any means. I've scratched and clawed and chewed my way in life. If I didn't have something, I simply took it from someone who did.
That's just the way the world has worked for me. There was a time I would've complained about that but, not anymore. I actually quite like it this way. People look at me with fear, knowing they're inferior. Who would dare stand against me?
No one. It was a very... lonely way to live.
Cleaning the blood, my eyes downcast. Actually, there was one person who slipped from my grasp, just one. And I've never seen or heard from him since. A wise decision, on his part. I'll tear down anyone who betray me. I don't have time for remorse.
That is simply how it has to be. My survival over theirs. No one is more important than me. Mate or not.
The ringing of my phone drew my attention, picking it up and bringing it to my ear as I answered the call.
"Yes?" I stared at the fresh cut on my finger, it's not deep so it doesn't hurt much.
"I need something only you can supply." Their voice sounded shaky and fearful, typical of the people I hear from. They're all cowards, too afraid to take matters into their own hands. Pathetic and desperate. Always hiding behind other people.
"When do you need it by?" I continued examining my finger nails, my tone coming out almost uninterested.
"Tomorrow. Should I meet you somewhere?" I could practically hear them glancing around, checking their surroundings. It was almost laughable, their fear.
"No, just text me where, what, and who. I'll make the drop." Without another word, I hung up the phone, sliding it into my pocket and picking the knife back up, resuming with cleaning my nails.
I've lived off the grid for as long as I can remember. Mostly alone. I despise my days of being prey to other people, so I slowly tore my way through until I became the predator. Really, for me, it truly is as simple as that. If you don't have, you take.
Placing the blade back on the table, I rested my eyes, leaning back in my desk chair before slowly drifting off to sleep.

Ammon had four houses all to himself. Although, he didn't pay for them through financial means. You could say, with his job, he was reimbursed in other ways. A give and take situation, if you will.
Sometimes those prices were too steep. Some days it would be someone's life, other days it would be sexual gratification, there was no limit to the things he would take and the things he was willing to do.
