I am back with another chapter! I would like to thank Tammyt70 for her last comment on Chapter 6! I hope you enjoy this chapter as well! Warning: p.o.v jumps a little bit so make sure you check who is talking! Love you guys and look forward to hearing from you:)
I followed Lord Elrond through the servant's entrance. Everything was still the same. It felt bittersweet returning home after so long. I could imagine Erie in the kitchen, telling me to chop vegetables faster. We even passed by the wall where Thranduil practically broke my neck. We continued to creep through the halls until we reached a sitting room.
I knew Galadriel would immediately find out I was there, so I didn't understand why Lord Elrond was trying to hide me.
"She probably knows I'm here..." I said examining my surroundings.
"Yes," Lord Elrond responded sitting down in front of me.
"Then why try to hide me?" I asked.
"It is not because of Lady Galadriel but Marathiel must not know you are here."
My palms got sweaty and my head started spinning with different possibilities.
"Why? Did something happen to her? What has Galadriel done to her?!"
"Calm down Aranel. Marathiel is fine and you will be reunited with her."
I mustered up a smile. I was slightly relieved. Lord Elrond didn't seem as happy as me.
"There is a condition..."
"What is it?" I asked.
"You may see her but she cannot find out who you are."
I stared blankly at him. What was the point of me seeing her if she didn't even know who I was? Lord Elrond was like my second father but I felt like I hardly knew him. He was like a lost puppy in my eyes. It seemed like I gave up my old family to start a new one.
My confusion led to defensiveness.
"I am her mother! She would remember me no matter how I looked!"
He paused.
"She doesn't remember you."
I held in my tears for later, and instead let out all my anger. I lunged forward putting my hands on his shoulders.
"Not only did you take her away but you erased her memory?!"
Lord Elrond sighed. I could tell he seemed sad that he had to do all these things but it seemed like he was bound by obligation.
"An ngell nîn Lord Elrond. I had her taken away from me by my own husband. Now she doesn't even know I exist!"
I knelt to the floor as mt heart continued to ache.
He knelt next to me.
"Goheno nin I would feel the same if Arwen were taken away, but you must try to understand the situation."
I felt his hand on my shoulder. It touch was comforting but it also made the pain worse.
"Answer me this: Who does she think her mother is?!"
Before he could think up a response...
"Hello Aranel."
Her voice was both elegant and repulsive. I stood up and bowed to show respect. I couldn't just s;a[ her like I wanted. My blabbing mouth was going to be my only weapon.
"I will allow you to see Mara but first we must discuss a few things," Lady Galdriel said to me.
I was angered that she was giving me permission to see my own daughter but I could hear Lord Elrond telling me to try and understand.
"I'm listening," I said still willing to do anything to see her.
She looked me straight in the eyes. She was trying to intimidate me.
"This will be your last visit. You are forbidden to see her again."
I walked closer to her.
"Very well..."
I didn't care what she said. Her words meant nothing. I would find a way. Heck, if I was able to capture the heart of the Elven King I could take down this witch.
"You cannot reveal your true identity," Galadriel continued saying.
"Why? Afraid I will interfere with your plans?" I said with a smirk.
Galadriel stayed silent for a moment.
"Maybe I am approaching this situation wrong."
I rolled my eyes.
"Took you this long to figure that out?!" I said annoyed.
"I'm going to tell you the truth... but something tells me you already know it."
(Thranduil's p.o.v)
I sat on my throne. I looked at Aranel's empty seat then at Legolas.
"She would not be able to leave the palace without help."
I looked into my son's eyes. The guilt in his face reminded me of Mara, when ever she would get caught skipping a lesson. Everyday I am reminded of her and of the pain I'm causing.
"You and I both know if Galdriel gets her hands on her, she'll never let her go."
"There is no stopping Naneth, but what would Lady Galdriel want with her? Is there something you are hiding Ada?
"There is no stopping the darkness Legolas! We must protect the people within these walls!" I said.
"Even if it means sacrificing your own family?"Legolas asked.
I could feel the hurt in his voice. If I were to tell him the truth everything would crumble to pieces. I didn't intend for all of this to happen.
"I am giving you the opportunity to tell me Legolas."
"As I am giving you the opportunity. Do what you must but go find Naneth and tell her the truth."
"Guards! Take him to the dungeon and place him in the lowest cell!"
(Galadriel's p.o.v)
"Has Thranduil ever mentioned his father?" I asked Aranel.
"Hardly..." she said under her breath.
I was tired of putting up a front. I just wanted to be able for her to understand me, but I would have to wait until that day. She deserves to hear the truth. What she does with it though, is up to her.
"In the Battle of Dagorlad both Thranduil and his father fought bravely."
"Yeah, Iston."
"Ah..so you do know."
"They won the war, but what of it?" She asked, anxiety present in her voice.
"They won the war thanks to my help," I said remembering things as they happened.
(Aranel's p.o.v)
This was starting to sound familiar...like that dream I had the night before. Since Galadriel was speaking the truth I decided to tell her about the dream. I think it is her mysterious ways that keeps me from trusting her. That and the fact she took Mara. Yet, my gut told me to trust her just this once.
(Galadriel's p.o.v)
I began to tell her about Thranduil coming to me for help.
"The gift," she whispered.
I smiled, it's true, the things about her, but she still remains unaware of her ability.
"How could what you're saying be true? Unless you know about my dream."
"You mean unless it actually happened..." I said.
