Everybody was so excited with the party that nobody noticed that it was already Friday today and tonight there would be a Masquerade Party at the Lewis’s Residence.
After the final bell rang, signalling dismissal. Eleanor, Bethany and I rushed right out before wave of students could. Then they quickly drove me home and volunteered to do my ‘extreme makeover’, so they called.
After they rushed right in the house, they pushed me up to my bedroom and sat me, not so gently, in front of my vanity mirror. Then Eleanor asked Bethany to gather all the necessary stuff for my make-over.
First, they rolled in curlers in my hair. Second, the make-up part which I wasn’t really very fond of. It took quite a long time since I kept on sneezing at the powder. I can’t help it, I’m really allergic to any sort of powdery thing or dust that’s why I never, I mean ever, wore any compact powder. Then came my nails.
And after a few more minutes later, Eleanor called in for the dress. Liz came in and handed the gown I was supposed to wear to her.
“Ohmygosh, Ave! Is this the one you’re going to wear? You will really wow Claude, I assure you!” Eleanor gushed. I’m sure I would’ve been caught blushing at that if it weren’t for my make-up. After they helped me in the gown and everything else, Eleanor made me turn around slowly to see how I looked like. I looked at the mirror to see my reflection.
“W-was that me?” I gasped. “Woah, Eleanor really gave it her all.”
I saw my Aunt tearing up and sniffling. “Oh my dear Lord in heaven, Avery, you look like a grown lady now. You’re very beautiful.”
I guffawed. “Ohh, c’mon, Liz. It’s not like I’m getting married! I’m just attending a party.”
My Aunt sniffled and wiped her tears. “It’s just that, I remember you were just that little girl running around here and now you’re so-“ Then she burst in tears. Ah, the up-side of having an overly attached Aunt.
“Aw, geez Liz, you’re making me want to cry myself!” I told her, though not harshly as I hugged her tight. I fought the urge to cry because I couldn’t because my make-up might get destroyed and surely, Eleanor would kill me if that happens. After all, they spent 3 hours working on it.
I hugged Liz for a few more seconds then I whispered something in her ear before I let go. She smiled as she dried her eyes and wiped the tears.
I faced Beth and Ellie and hugged them both tightly.
“Thank you so much, guys! I owe you so much already. I really couldn’t have done this without you.” I exclaimed as I let go. They both exchanged smiles then answered.
“We told you, Ave. Anything for you.” I felt like crying and hugging the life out of these two because I was so happy, but I held back and gave both gave them the sweetest smile I could muster.
