Upon entering the geography lecture hall, everything was extraordinarily normal. So normal, in fact, that it made me want to leave due to how much I utterly hate geography. It's literally the most boring thing in the world, but I had to take some sort of class in this category of things in order to complete my basics.
Ignoring the urge to leave just as soon as I had entered, I took my seat at the front of the room. As I was setting my bag and other things down, I was surprised to see Hans heading toward a row of seats a couple behind mine. This may have been customary a while ago, but when we started dating we had also begun to sit next to each other as often as possible. It was a mystery to me as to why he hadn't taken the empty seat to my left, but I brush it off and continue to get ready to take notes.
In my solitary silence, I begin to reflect on all the craziness in my life. It had been almost two months now since Elsa's apology and the introduction to Jack and Kristoff. We all had quite a few classes together and we were becoming a pretty closely knit friend group. Hans and I had a fantastic relationship, and nothing was going wrong in my life. I went on regular dates with Hans, which were remarkable, and we both supported each other. I have great friends and a fantastic boyfriend who loves me and I love him. What else could I need.
A few solitary moments have passed by in silence when suddenly someone takes the seat next to mine. A surge of excitement courses through me, as I think that Hans has come back to sit by me, but I'm slightly surprised to see Kristoff. I had no idea we shared this class. Guess I was always preoccupied with Hans.
"I'm not taking anyone's seat, am I?" The slight curve of his lips makes me smile ever so slightly as well.
Before responding, I consider taking a glance at where Hans was seated, but I immediately discarded that thought. Relationships are based on trust, after all, and if I want him to trust me when I don't sit next to him, I've got to trust him when he doesn't sit with me.
Once I turn my attention back to the blond, I shake my head with a smile. "Nope, the seats all yours now."
"Thanks." Kristoff smiles warmly at me, making me think that this class might not be as horrible as it normally is.
After a few slightly awkward moments of silence between us, I decide to break the ice with one of my traditional jokes. "Hey Kristoff?"
"What?" He looks at me curiously, and I already could tell that he was going to enjoy my new pun.
"Why didn't William enjoy being in the military?" I asked with a dorky smile spread across my lips.
After a short pause, he spoke up, "I don't know, why?..."
"He hates the phrase, 'fire at will'."
His initial groan of disappointment made me laugh, which seemed to become infectious, as Kristoff soon started to laugh with me as well. It was awfully nice to have someone that would finally laugh at my jokes with me. Elsa and Hans were alike in the fact that they found my puns to be no where near "punny" enough for them, but now I had Kristoff... and goodness knows I've got a list full of puns ready to fire at any moment.
As I open my mouth to begin another joke, I'm cut off by Kristoff starting his own pun. "What did the fish say when he swam into the concrete wall?"
Being very well educated in puns, I already knew the answer. My gaze met with Kristoff's and, as if on cue, we said the punch line, "Dam," at the exact same time with the same deadpan expression, sending us both into a fit of laughter.
