As we enter the large room, students begin to take their unassigned, -but-previously-claimed-to-be-their's, seats.
Elsa to my rear with Jack on her right and Kristoff to my right.
A silent plea makes its way to my head, begging that Hans go and sit with the undesirables in the back of the room. Unfortunately, he takes his normal seat to my left. I don't know if I can contain myself through the hour long seminar... and I don't know what I'm containing at this point. Whether it be the lake of tears still willing to escape even after all the crying I had already done, or the undeniable urge to furiously wring Hans's throat...
I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket, pulling me out of my thoughts. Before checking my phone, I make sure that the professor is no where to be seen then cautiously check the new text.
Elsa- "Hey, is everything a-ok down there? There's this tension radiating off of you... you could cut it with a knife."
"I'll tell you everything once we get back to our place... it's-" I pause, trying to find the right word for whatever is actually going on. It's definitely not confusing. I know he's cheating on me. It's not upsetting. It's waaay more than just upsetting.
"It's screwed up."
As I place my phone back in my pocket, my hand brushes against someone else's. I look to my right to see that Kristoff had dropped his pencil, and when reaching to pick it up, we had accidentally made physical contact. I suddenly feel a 360 degree shift in mood. I feel much more bubbly and normal.
My eyes meet his and we both smile simultaneously. "Here let me-" We start the same sentence, at the same time, while we both reach to grab his pencil. Due to our unplanned synchronization, we end up bumping into each other multiple times, making me and him both begin laughing.
It was quite nice, honestly. I had been having such a horrific day, but the times I had smiled had been because of Kristoff... gosh, I don't know what I'd do without a friend like him.
Sadly, the enjoyment didn't last much longer. It seemed that as soon as Hans had noticed my mood change, he tried to get my attention. "Anna, babe," the call from his mouth made me stiffen, but I turn to look at him anyways, forcing the smile to stay on my lips as to not raise any new suspicions. "Are you still good with me coming over later tonight?" He seemed to be speaking much louder than normal. It was as if he was making sure that someone, though I have no idea who, heard ever word he was saying.
I tried to come up with a reason for him to not come over, but there was nothing. "Sure," I say, trying to keep the conversation short and painless.
Just make it through history. You can do that.
