She kept asking why I was talking to a girl like her. I had to make up some lie! Well, it wasn't exactly a lie. It was more like an exaggeration at my point. She was easy to talk to. And I loved talking to her!

When fifteen minutes passed and she hadn't replied, I felt like I had offended her or something. I immediately felt awful. I didn't know how I offended her. Maybe it's the fact that I called her a fan when she was my friend.

I didn't want to keep hurting like this, so I left things as is. That's what I told myself while waiting. Then, I couldn't take it anymore.

Erika?

No response. I threw my phone at the wall, but luckily, I had an Otter Box case on it, so it didn't break.

Within a few minutes, my phone started ringing, so I check to see who it was.

Mom.

I immediately answered. "Mom?"

"Oh Shawn! Hi! How are you?"

"I'm great mom. How about you? How's dad and Aaliyah?"

"We are all fine, my dear. Missing you more and more everyday. Guess what?"

"What?"

"We are going to your show in Vancouver!"

"Really? That's great! You guys can come backstage and I can come home for just one night!"

"Yes! That would be amazing. And we will bring Naomi. I'm pretty sure you haven't seen her in a while."

My happiness just broke. "I didn't tell you, didn't I?"

"Tell me what?"

"I broke up with Naomi today. She came and wanted to be with me tomorrow for my birthday. I said no and broke up with her."

"Shawn Peter Raul Mendes! Why'd you break up with her? You and Naomi made such a lovely couple!"

"Mom, I'm sorry to say this, but, shut up please." My mom gasped offendedly, making me feel awful inside. "Naomi was annoying and I don't like her. There's someone else."

"I'm pretty sure it's that bitch, Taylor!"

"No mom! Besides, Taylor is way too old for me. It's a girl I just met."

"On tour?" My mom sniffed.

"Mom! Is that Shawn?" I heard my little sister.

"Yes Aaliyah."

"Can I talk with him? I miss him so much!"

"Of course. Hang up when you're finished."

"Okay!" There was silence for a few seconds and then... "Big brother! I miss you so much!"

"And I miss you more, Princess. How are you?"

"I'm okay. Cameron called. He's such a sweetie."
