Chasing wayward thoughts in vain,
Breath tight as an unspun drum.
Never has the silence been shaken
By this heart's incessant thrum.
Nothing was ever upside down,
Not a leaf turned in unchanging season.
'Til you, a windstorm, tossed it all away,
And left this lackluster soul a reason.
So I stand, frozen at your door,
Words that rarely fail, escape me.
But never have the days been so clear,
When I'm turned inside out so perfectly.
Just one knock, one heartfelt sound,
A prayer to grace your radiant sights.
And yet, all my eloquence departs—
When I'm caught beneath your floodlights.
