Past

Yume sat on her bed, thinking back her new sister and how Haru had got overprotective over her. It made her feel jealous, in a way. She looked down and muttered. ''Damn it....damn stupid, half-ling vampire.....''

The thought of Yuzu made her think about the half-ling vampires who had took her in when she was younger. She gritted her teeth and walked into the on-suit bathroom and sat under the sink, hoping that nobody would come in. As soon as she was sure that she was safe, her emotions ran high and tears rolled down her cheeks. ''Stupid...stupid....''

Yuzu walked into the bedroom that she was now sharing with Yuki and Yume, and looked around for the pink haired pure blood. She looked over the dark room and walked over to the bed that had the named 'Yume' engraved into it. She looked into the bed and saw the girl missing. She glanced around and was about ready to shout out when she heard faint sobbing and mumbling coming from the nearby bathroom.

''Could she...'' she mumbled to herself, as she walked over to the bathroom. She gripped hold of the handle and pushed it open, only to hear a faint gasp. ''Yume, are you in here? Why are you hiding from me...I'm not going to harm you.''

She walked in slowly and saw the older five year old curled up in the ball, yet staring at her with tear filled eyes. The child's face was filled with more pain then Yuzu had ever seen before, and it was uncomfortable to see. She walked over to the pink haired vampire and gently stoked her back, the other vampire at first made away in shyness but eventually accepted the comfort and collapsed into the hug, as the younger child embraced her. ''Yuki-nee told me about your past. I'm not like those vampires, I'm not going to harm you in any way or form.''

Yume looked up at her, with hopeful yet still distant eyes. Yuzu smiled at her and wiped the few tears that leaked from the child's eyes. ''Yume, if you can, will you tell me a bit more about what you went through.''

Yume looked down, before gently nodding and resting her head on Yume's chest. ''I was born on april 10, almost 6 years ago....My father had died thanks to slayers during mommy's pregnancy with me and my twin sister, Nozomi....Nozomi was weak, very weak for a pure blood vampire. She couldn't eat well, and thus her life was always at risk. 3 years passed for us twins, but Nozomi....she almost didn't make it until some slayers found us. Our mother was killed protecting us...we managed to get away and was taken in by some distant relatives, they were half-lings...like you'' She cut off for a moment to look up at Yuzu with sorry filled eyes. She managed to continue shortly after though. ''.....however, that year...a virus effected various vampires but luckily there was a cure...but when I got the virus....my relatives didn't do anything...to help me and I was kicked out......I didn't even know if Nozomi...my only living relative that I cared about...is still alive......I was lucky to survive, Yuki-nee found me shortly afterwards....I had almost died but she managed to use what little of her family's riches that she had to pay for my treatment.....with that, I followed her everywhere....like a lost puppy....but I didn't feel connected to her...in fact, she's just a sister, a savior...not a friend.''

Yume broke into sobs and shaked in Yuzu's embraced, Yuzu looked at her with sympathy and gently stroked her back. Tears formed in her own eyes as she tried, unsuccessfully to ease Yume's fears and pain. ''Your not the only one with no relatives, Yume......remember what Haru-papa said but you didn't believe....''

''...I um...did believe you...'' mumbled Yume, as her body shakes from more tears. ''My hatred towards half-lings...blinded me from seeing that....I'm sorry for lashing out at you...and venting all my troubles straight at a innocent girl who had gone through losing her family, just like me.''

''Don't worry, I don't blame you. And I'll forgive you on one condition.''

Yume looked at her, with hopeful eyes that were still sprinkled with tears. She would do anything if she could be forgiven. ''What....do you want me to do.''

''Not much you do. What I mean is that I'll forgive you if we be friends forever, never separating and always there for each other during hard and painful times. How's that sound, it's not too corny and cheap is it?''

Yume's eyes leaked more tears at the thought of that, it made her so happy. More happy then anyone had allowed her to feel before. She hugged Yuzu and nodded, with tears of joy rolling down her cheeks. ''I accept, Yuzu-chan. You'll be my best friend...and first friend!''

Yuzu smiled and they stayed in their hugging position for quite some time, forgetting about anything and anyone around them. They didn't care, they had each other after all. Yuzu was the one, who woke up from the daydream first. ''Yume, I think it's time we went to bed. After all, I think Yuki-nee will be worried about us soon or later. Plus, my legs getting numb.''

Yumi frowned and got off Yuzu, then helped the purple haired girl to her feet. The pair smiled at each other before hugging once more in their standing forms then they sneaked back into the bedroom to see Yuki seating on her bed, looking at them expectantly. ''Yume, Yuzu-chan. Good to see that you are both alive and well.'' The older child's sarcastic tone was plainly evident. ''What took you two so long to come out of the bathroom?''

''Yuki-nee, Yume was just upset about her past so I calmed her down and we ended up staying in a comforting hug for a while.'' said Yuzu, like it was nothing. She didn't even have a blush on her face or anything, which was unlike Yume, who had began blushing the moment Yuzu said 'hug'.

Yuki grinned and stared at her younger sister. ''Oh ho, you have a quite pleasant side to you, don't you, Yume?''

''..S-shut up!'' yelled the embarrassed 5 year old.

A loud banging was heard on the door, apparently it was Haru. ''Girls, settle down and go to bed. Your disturbing the others.''

''O-okay, Haru-papa...'' mumbled Yume, as she got into her bed.

Yuzu then looked at the beds, only to realize she didn't have one for herself. She glanced at the door and said. ''Haru-papa...I don't have a bed.''

''Share with Yume, or Yuki. Whichever accepts, we'll get you a bed as soon as we can, Yuzu-chan. Now go to bed.'' Haru's footsteps wandered away from the door, the shadow coming through the open slit at the bottom of the door also faded into light.

''...Y-you can share w-with...me, Yuzu-chan...'' mumbled Yume, with a blush evident on her face but a smile nonetheless.

Yuzu smiled and walked over to her new sister's bed and laid down next to the girl. Yume was the first to fall to sleep of them, with Yuki beginning shortly after. Yuzu was left awake as she stared at the ceiling for a little while, her trance was interrupted by Yume's hand, which stretched from her side and over her body, as the girl snuggled into her. Yuzu's face lit up with a blush. She gave up and turned over, to get more comfortable with Yume cuddling her.

She smiled at the older vampire's peaceful features and gently stroked her small fingers through the girl's pink hair, the said girl purring at the attention, even if she wasn't aware of who was giving it to her. Yuzu blushed but continued to brush her fingers through her new friend's hair, with a small smile on her face. She gently whispered. ''Good night, Yume.....I hope that we are together for years.'' She gently placed a kiss on the other girl's forehead and then fall to sleep, hoping for good things the next day to come.
