Not Like The Others
Chapter 2.
I woke up sweaty and nervous. I felt my heart rate accelerate and I sat up in bed. Light poured in through the parted curtains in my bedroom.
I got up and my bare feet touched my light blue rug. I looked at myself in my vanity mirror. I looked reddish and sweaty. Ugh, I need to shower.
I gather my things and go to take a shower. The water runs down my back, neck, and throat and refreshes my body.
When I get out, it's 6:37. I'm not sure if I should dress up or stay casual. After going through my closet, I decide to wear a gray shirt that goes to the middle of my thigh. Then I throw on some tight black skinny jeans and a pair of silver flats. Then I just flatten my hair and add a bow.
"Brynn! Hurry up, you fat troll!" Amanda yells from down stairs.
"I'm coming!" I yell back. I check the time. 7:02. I turn off my flattening iron and grab my back pack.
I sprint down stairs to see Amanda with an annoyed look on her face.
"Look, you better shove that food down your throat in two minutes because you will NOT make me late, got it, maggot?" Amanda threatens, "And don't embarrass me at school. Or you're dead."
"Yes, sir." I say emphasizing the "sir" part. She glares at me and I eat my waffle in a hurry. Yum.
"Done." I say. I glance at my phone. I wash my hands and brush my teeth, then sprint back down stairs.
"Hurry up!" Amanda squeals while stomping her foot.
"I'm going." I say.
We walk out the door and start walking down the block to the bus stop. We stand there in silence as we wait for the bus.
Then, I heard a familiar voice.
"Hey, Brynn." he said.
I turn around, oh! That one boy. The neighbor. What was his name?!
"Hi..." I say, sort of confused.
"Hey Liam!" Amanda says loudly.
Oh, Liam.
"Hey Amanda." Liam says fast. "So, Brynn, you're going to Fontana High, too?"
I nod, "Yeah, I'm a junior. You?"
"I'm a junior, too. I can't wait to graduate." Liam says.
"I'm a senior. I'm single, too. A single senior." Amanda exclaims.
I think she likes Liam...
"Ok." Liam tells Amanda. He turns to me. "You should hit me up if you need help...with anything."
I smile. "I'll remember that."
"The bus is here, Brynn! Pay attention and stop bothering Liam!" Amanda tells me as the bus stops in front of us.
"She's not bothering me, she's kind of cool." Liam says to Amanda.
"Yeah, not really." Amanda says getting into the bus.
I am not sure where I'll sit so I just go to the middle of the bus and take a seat in an empty row. Liam sits next to me.
"So, how do you like the neighborhood?" Liam asks.
"Its alright. I haven't really explored anything...yet." I add with a smile.
"It's really nice and I'll be happy to show you around." Liam offers.
I nod and glance at Amanda; she's already making some friends.
I sigh and look out the window.
This is going to be a long year. Teachers, homework, making friends, and avoiding love. That's right, avoiding.
I'm not like the others...
