Katherine decided to ditch school, staying in her bed in the same shorts and hoodie she had been wearing the night before. Her hair unbrushed and messy as she turned over for the hundredth time, trying to find some comfort.
Truth was, as good of a lawyer as Veronica Hastings was, Katherine was terrified her dad would win the lawsuit.
But her thoughts were interrupted when Spencer let herself into the girls' bedroom.
"Kat, get up. We have to talk. Now." Spencer demanded, as Katherine slowly sat up.
"Good morning to you too." Katherine mumbled, eyes on her best friend.
"You need to stay away from Jason."
"God, not this again." Katherine groaned, her head falling back in annoyance.
"No, Kat. Look, I don't wanna hurt you but Jason is a creep. That shed he keeps locked, full of pictures of Aria sleeping. And to make it worse, wait before I tell you, this was not Aria's fault. She backed away." Spencer said, piquing Katherine's interest more. "He kissed Aria last night."
Katherine's face fell as she stared blankly at Spencer. "Please tell me this is some sick joke."
"I wish it was." Spencer said, her voice softer now.
Katherine felt herself fill with rage as she threw the blanket off of herself, jumping out of bed and hurrying to throw on a pair of converse.
She quickly brushed her hair out, throwing it up in a clip, not bothering to change out of the hoodie and tiny shorts as she practically ran downstairs and across the street, Spencer chasing after her.
"Kat, wait. What are you doing? Think this through." Spencer pleaded, praying the girl wouldn't cause a scene.
Katherine banged on Jason's front door, letting her rage take over so she wouldn't cry. She was on the verge of beating the door down when Spencer pulled her back, realizing the older boy wasn't home.
"Guess I have time to fuck up his shit." Katherine said, with a bitter laugh escaping her lips. She booked it to the backyard, knowing the lock on the back door would be a lot easier to break. Well, more like it had a window she could throw a rock through.
She picked up the first big rock she saw, chucking it into his back door as Spencer's eyes widened.
Reaching her hand through the broken glass, she was able to successfully reach the lock to open the door.
Without a second thought she let herself in, immediately knocking over everything in sight. To her luck, Jason had a baseball bat hanging on his wall.
She quickly picked it up and started smashing everything glass in sight. She took the pictures of them on his wall, breaking the frames and ripping the paper in little pieces, angry and heartbroken tears falling as Spencer couldn't do anything but watch.
"Piece of shit!" Katherine screamed, taking the baseball bat to the camera equipment he had started keeping in the house.
"Kat." Spencer started, but immediately stopped her words as Katherine turned to her with a deadly glare, the pain clear in her eyes.
Katherine didn't stop until almost everything in the home was ruined. But realizing there was nothing left to smash and break made the pain come in even harder. She dropped the baseball bat as she fell into Spencer's arms in sobs.
"I thought he loved me." Katherine cried, not understanding why she wasn't enough for the man she thought she would marry one day.
"I know." Spencer said, holding her as she cried.
