Chapter One- Rumor
Fridays are suppost to be great, right? Well, this one started with a bang.
BANG!
The milk from my Cheerios falls right onto the floor, taking it's time to kill my pants on the way down.
"Damn," I curse, there goes my breakfast. I only had time for one meal anyway.
"Rumor!" My father calls from the floor of our living room, "what do you think of this idea?"
I race into the room, to be greeted dy a hilarious sight. My father is dressed as a princess and holding dice, overlooking a board game.
"It's a game for boys!" He tells me, "there are spaces that make you dress up!"
"That's an amazing idea, Dad!" I tell him, bacause it is! "what are you going to call it?"
"Princesses!" He exclames gleefully.
"Sounds amazing, Dad. I've gotta go, though," I say giving him a kiss on his cheek then headng out.
Let me explain my Dad. Do you know those crazy dads in stories, books, and movies who are trying to get famous for their inventions? Well, my Dad is like that. Except, he's gotten famous already, and owns his own shop (which we live above) called "Charlie's". You see, my dad invents board games. His first was called "Yeti Hunt" which is like clue, except one of the players is the "Yeti", and only they know, the other players have to guess who the "Yeti" is before they're killed. It's actualy really fun.
I walk through the store to the register and begin my shift, just as Jamie walks in and unlocks the door, then filpps the sign to "Open."
Jamie works here, but also lives in our basment, so it's kinda nice. Jamie's 18, a year younger then me, and fresh out of high school. She's been working hear for two years though. She's my best friend. We bond over a mutual obssesion with One Direction.
"Rumor! Guess what?!" She yells in my ear, while jumping up and down, she's ADHD.
"Is there something you want to share, Jamie?" I whisper, my father hates One Direction.
"Oh, right," she murmers, "Well anyway, One Direction are here!!!!!"
"As in in here? As in Illinois?"
"As in they could walk into this shop right now!"
"Wait, they're in Normal, Illinois? We're a freaking deserted town! There are like no more than 100 people hear and most of them are, like, 90!!!!"
"You just described why it's perfect for them to come hear!" Jamie whispers as a boy puts 'Yeti Hunt' on the counter, and I begin to work the money and reciept.
"But the most amount of people hear are tourists who've heard of Dad's store!"
"I know but it's a perfect place to get away form fans. Well, except us."
"You know -come again- this is brilliant!"
"And they're all single!" Jamie smirks. I smirk with her.
She laughs, this could be a good day.
At the exact moment I think that, Pearl and Stacy walk in, and my mood plumets by 2,000%
They both sashay up to the counter, and smile with pleasantness so fake it'd be like saying Queen Victoria was amused.
"Heeeeeey!" Pearl says with the sweetness of a gummdrop.
"Hell-oo," Jamie greets them.
"Hey, so we were wondering if your brother is around?"
"What? Jace?" I ask, he hadn't chnged a little over the summer, he'd gotten hot, and netheir of the two idiots knew that.
"Yeah, whatever, he has to do our homework."
I stare at them wondering why I'm wasting my time with them. They're still in school? It's summer- Oh, right, summer school.
I hate the how they act, but the way they look make them worse. They wear their hair in sloppy buns, and their eyes are black as fuck. They wear tight tank tops and puffy sweat pants that are tukced into thier uggboots. Ew.
Just then, Jace walks in. He literaly looks like a young Jensen Ackles. He has a bit of stubble growing on his chin, green eyes that could win any girls heart, and short dirty blonde hair that used to be brown (it changed colors.)
Both girls turn to look at him, and their mouths drop open on the spot.
"Hey Jace," I say casually.
"Hey," he says, walking over to us.
"These lovely ladies want you to help with their homework."
"How so?" Jace asks, then smiles at them flirtily. I think they're going to faint, "Go fuck yourselves."
They both sigh, unaware that he just said what he did and reply, "yeah," dreamily.
Jace, Jamie and I exchange a look and burst out laughing.
The girls finally realize that they fucked up, and ran out of the store in shame.
I love my life!
