Jason's pov

I'm in the living room when I hear her shout angrily. Uh oh. I better go see what's up. I run upstairs to our room and she's staring at her phone. "What is it?" I ask. "Stupid Andy. He can't stand that we broke up so he's sending me rude messages! God, he's such a douchebag!" She grumbles, throwing her phone across the room. "That's the first thing I thought when I saw you two arguing." I say, sitting beside her, putting a hand on her shoulder. "I hate him!" She snaps. "Do you believe in revenge?" I ask. She smiles. "What did you have in mind?" I'm about to answer when my phone starts ringing with Luke's country man as my ringtone. "Hey baby, I'm a country man!" She laughs. I blush and answer it. It's Jessica. "I need you to pick the girls up from school." "Um, I can't. I've got things to deal with today." "Like what?" I'm gonna take this in private. I go in the other room. "I met a new girl and she's got this psychotic ex boyfriend and we're trying to get him off her back. Then I have to go to the studio and after that I have an interview with billboard. I'm really sorry Jess I would if I could trust me but my plate is full today." "Wow, you've got a girlfriend now!" "Yeah, I saved her from the boyfriend who was hitting her." "I'm glad that you finally found someone. Ooh do you think she can pick the girls up? It's a great way for them to bond!" I'm shocked. She's never even met her. "I guess so. I'll have to ask her. I'll text ya later." We hang up and I go back to our room. "Who was that?" "Just Jessica. My ex wife. I was wondering if you could pick up the girls from school today." "Sure when and where?" I smile and sit beside her. "They get outta tutoring at 4 and it's the school here in town. Keely is 9 and Kendyl is 5." "I can't wait to meet them." She says, picking her phone back up. I text Jessica about it. I'm glad that we're still getting along.

Miranda's pov

While Jason is in the studio, I'm driving to town to pick up his girls. They don't know me though. "I'm your dad's girlfriend and he's at the studio." I say. Keely stands in front of Kendyl. "I get it. You guys probably think I'm some psychotic fan or something." I mumble. She nods. "It's happened before." "If I call him, will that give you the reassurance?" I ask. She nods.

Jason's pov

Shockingly Alabama showed up at the studio and asked me to duet with them! I'm like ecstatic! Alabama is my childhood heroes. We're talking about the song when my phone rings. "Oh, hold on." I say, answering it. "Hey baby, what's up?" "The girls think I'm a crazed fan." She says. I try not to laugh. She puts it on speaker. "Keely it's okay. She is my girlfriend. I asked her to pick you guys up since I'm in the studio and guess who I'm in the studio with?" "Who?" "Alabama!" I gasp. "Holy cow! Kendyl get in the car! Dad's got Alabama in the studio!"

Miranda's pov

She must be a big fan of Alabama. Just like Jason is. I laugh as they run to my car. I drive as quickly as I can to the studio which is what Jason asked me to do. It's so adorable seeing the look on her face. "I'm gonna be singing with them." He says. Keely squeals in excitement. Jason holds my hand. "Oh and you don't have to worry about Andy anymore." He says. I decide not to ask. They go on talking while I take the kids in the other room. "I'm a total fangirl for Alabama." Keely says, collapsing into a chair with a content sigh. I smile as I watch the kids. It makes me think of my young son who passed away when Andy got drunk. I was gone taking care of my mom when it happened. He got away with it on a technicality.

~flashback~

I come home and find little Brett in a coffin. Apparently he was drunkenly giving my 3 year old a bath when he drops the hair dryer in the tub, killing my sweet little baby boy.

Jason's pov

"Daddy!!" Kendyl calls. I walk out of the studio and both girls are staring at Miranda, confused. "I think she's broken." Kendyl says, holding Keely's arm. "She's not broken." I mutter walking over. "Honey, what's wrong?" I ask, shaking her shoulders. She blinks several times and bursts into tears. Mike takes the girls away. "Baby, what happened? What's wrong?" I gasp, worriedly hugging her. "It's all my fault. He's dead because of me!" She cries on my shoulder. "What do you mean? Nobody is dead!" She shakes her head. "It's my son." She says, sighing. "You have a son?!" "Not anymore. I was an idiot and left Brett alone with Andy and he was dead when I came home!" She sobs harder. Oh whoa, she lost a kid. I can't think of what to say. "You got the girls right Mike?" He nods. I help her stand up and we go to my truck. I drop the tailgate and I hold her in my lap as she cries. "Seeing the girls today just made me think of him." She says, hiccuping from crying. "I'm sorry I just completely broke down like that!" She gasps. "No, you don't need to apologize for that. If anything happened to Keely or Kendyl I'd be a wreck. It's okay to be upset." "Thank you." She whispers. "Any time you wanna cry I'm right here and if you ever wanna talk about him, you can talk to me." "I'd love that." She rests her head on my chest and falls asleep. Must've wore herself out from crying. Poor thing.
