Chapter 16-The Best Friend & Family
Alexi Barone's POV
I hurled the China vase against the wall furiously. "Fucking hell!" I roared as Christopher stood in front of me.
"I assume there's an internal leak right here. That's why rival gangs know about Miranda being your sister."
"No fucking shit! Hurry bring her here safely before they take her!" I snapped and Christopher nodded before leaving.
How the hell did rival gangs know about Mel? I've tried to keep my relation with her a secret by cutting down my contact with her. Now Mel was in danger and it was all because of me. I was never going to forgive myself if something had happened to her.
My blood ran cold. What if Slade Kolosov had heard about this and went to get her himself? Slade Kolosov was merciless, cruel and cold. These weren't even the words I could describe him with. If Mel landed up in his hands, she would be dead come morning.
I waited anxiously for Chris to show along with Mel safe and sound but minutes turned to hours and now it was dawn.
Seven hours had passed. Something was wrong. Christopher should be back with Mel by now. Had I failed my parents wishes to leave Mel out of this so she could be safe?
One of my men came in and spoke hastily, "Sir. A car just dropped Callavo off in front of your home."
My heart sank and I clenched my jaw. " Bring him in." Two of my men brought in a bruised and injured Christopher. "What the fuck happened?" I thundered and Christopher opened his mouth to respond, "Slade Kolosov."
"What?" I spat and my heart plummeted to the bottom of my stomach. Christopher continued, "He has Mel. Apparently, she seems to know him well. She trusts him."
I clenched my jaw, "What. Are. You. Saying? Slade Kolosov has my sister? And she knows him?" Christopher nodded, "Yes. It seems as if both of them are friends."
"Friends. Fucking friends! She probably doesn't know who he is. Being the monster he is, he probably lead her into a false trap!" I roared before taking out my knife. I could imagine my mother pleading with me to leave Mel out of the criminal underworld.
She wasn't cut out for it. Mel was someone who couldn't be involved with these sort of things. I promised and swore to my parents when we were in the crushed vehicle that Mel wouldn't know a single thing.
My mother's last words were, "Protect your sister Alexi. She'll need you. Remember that I love the both of you very much."
Had I already failed my mother's dying wish?
