The train opened out onto a massive sky scraper, the top of it was coming closer to the train, we were so high up from the ground here, I rushed to the door and looked down, I cheered as my heart thumped, the street was just a tiny line at the bottom, and as the sky scraper came closer I went back from the door and launched myself into the air, I landed perfectly next to Ella and I highfived her.
Suddenly something swooped me up off my feet, and I looked around Zack had picked me up and was spinning me around, I shrieked, and he put me onto the ground, he laughed and turned around to look at Adrian.
I ran at him and jumped onto his back, he laughed and lifted me up onto his shoulders. I stared down at Ella, she smiled at me with a glint in her eye, but before I could react Adrian had put his head between her legs then stood up, lifting her onto his shoulders, we were now at the same level, holding hands in the air and whooping as the boys ran after the group of dauntless initiates.
I looked behind me at the transfers one of them was being pulled from the side of the building, while the other group, which was surprisingly big - this year they had only lost the boy who had refused to jump, whereas usually more can't make it, or they fall off the building, being more unfortunate than the boy who had made it on the building and had collapsed on the ground- the other group was being led to the side of the building, there, was a big whole, so deep you can't see the bottom, and the initiates would have to jump through it, at the bottom was just a net, higher than where the bottom of the whole looked.
But we didn't have to do this as half of us already knew what it was, and we would jump straight in there with no hesitation.
Our group went to the main building, which did require some parkour.
We jumped off the boys' shoulders and ran to the edge of the building, I looked down and adrenaline rushed through my veins. We were to jump down the building and land on a platform halfway down, then we had to get across to the other building opposite in any way we wanted, there was a wire rope there to use if we wished. After that we would take a near vertical zip wire down to the bottom, then we would have to get over the high wall in the way, and then run through to the dauntless building. All this wasn't a test, because they knew we could manage it if we were already dauntless, it was just to get us excited and give us something to do other than just walking into a building.
Ella and I sprinted ahead of everyone to be the first one there, Ella, having longer legs got there before me, and she launched herself into the air. I reached the edge and looked down, Ella had landed and was now making her way over to the other side, using the wire as a tightrope. I dropped myself down and land in a crouching position, it is obviously better to land then go into a role, but the platform is too small for that.
Ella reached the other side and grinned at me, then she grabbed the coat hanger like thing attached to the zip wire, and she dropped herself down, she cheered as she went down and watched her drop.
"Hurry up titch!" Shouted someone from above, I glared up at them from above then I flipped them off, I hate being made fun of about my height, especially by people who are only about a centimetre taller than me. I pressed my back against the cool wall, and I launched myself at the rope, I landed a bit more than halfway across the rope, and as I looked around, a buff boy about a year older than me had already landed and was making his way across
by holding on with his hands and using them to pull himself along, I stood up, hoping the guy wouldn't wobble it too much, and I quickly skipped across the wire.
On the other side, the hanger had just been automatically pushed to the top again, I grabbed it and without a seconds hesitation, I jumped down the vertical wire. The air pushed my body upwards so that I was heading headfirst for the ground, I screamed in the adrenaline, but I could hardly hear it through the rushing wind in my ears.
As I came closer to the ground the hanger shut to a halt and I jumped off into a roll. I stood up and saw Ella leaning against the wall. She walked towards me and jumped on top of me. I laughed.
" oh my gosh this is so cool!!" She screamed. I looked up, the macho boy was just grabbing the hanger and about to make his way down, the others at the top were starting to get restless, and we're coming down all at once whooping and cheering as they made their own way down the buildings.
"Come on, I want to be the first there!" I said to Ella. She laughed and said,
"So competitive."
"You can talk!" I nudged her and we ran towards the wall.
Here and there were nails or cracks in the wall for hand and footholds, we grabbed some and hauled ourselves up, the nails were small and the cracks too thin to put your hands in, but somehow we made it to the top. We sat on top of the wall, I looked down behind me, Macho was halfway up, but his hands were so thick and his body so heavy that it was hard for him, I smirked and looked to where Ella was looking, she gasped at what she saw. A massive wooden roller coaster, not at all stable, was in front of us. A wooden cart was sitting there, and Ella and I jumped in it, there was a lever next to it that I pulled. The cart set off at a super speed, and we went up and down spinning around and upside down, we went vertically down and it ended. We jumped out and a group of dauntless, the initiate trainers, came up to us, a man with black hair and really green eyes came up to us, he smiled and said, "what's your names?"
"Ella."
"Zoe." We replied.
He turned to the others and shouted out,
"Ella and Zoe, the first initiates!"
