I peered at Jay.

I'm worried about her. She looked like something was wrong, but she wouldn't tell me.

You're annoying her. Of course she wouldn't tell you.

I shook dark thoughts away.

Still here.

I groaned. Jay glanced back at me.

"Are you alright?" She asked, innocent.

"Yeah, fine. Are you ok?" I asked.

"Uh, yeah. Livin' the dream." She said, laughing nervously.

"Are you sure?" I pressed.

"Yeah. It's nothing you should have to worry about." Jay smiled sweetly.

Loser. Idiot. Twat. Incapable of helping Jay. That's what you are. The voice taunted.

A tried to smile at her, but it looked rather pained.

Great. Now she thinks you hate her.

Jay smiled and faced the road again.

You messed up. Jay's hurting, dealing with something alone, and you can't even give her a decent smile.

My hands flew to my head. My eyes squeezed shut.

"Argh!" I groaned in frustration.

I heard Jay jump off of Rey. I felt someone slide me off of my horse. I opened my eyes as arms wrapped around me. I peered down and lowered my hands.

Jay.

She was hugging me.

I felt a blush creep up my neck.

She nuzzled her nose in the crook of my neck as I slowly wrapped my arms around her. I slowly rested my chin on her head.

She pulled away and looked up at me.

"Whatever you're dealing with, we can help. What's wrong?" She asked.

"Um... Well, it's kinda weird. It's like someone is in my head." I explained, red with embarrassment.

"It's a Mental Mage." Haru said, walking up to Jay and I, placing a hand on Jay's back.

"What?" I asked, confused.

"Jay is a Earth Mage. Earth Mages are the most mentally stable type of Mage, and so they know how to not be controlled by Mental Mages. However, Wind Mages are very weak against them. A Mental Mage has been following Jay to the Earth Kingdom." Haru concluded.

"But how? Who?" I asked.

Jay looked around.

"Well, there is an easy way to find out. Jay, place your hand on the ground. You are a Earth Mage, and so the ground and earth is your domain. You can sense the presence of anything on the ground. Kane can sense anything suspended in air, Fire Mages can sense body heat, and Water Mages sense liquids." Haru explained.

Jay focused and nodded. She dropped to her knees and placed both hands firmly to the ground. She closed her eyes and and her breathing steadied.

A green glow came from her skin faintly, and her hair started to float in mid air. Her eyes flew open. Instead of her regular eye color, dark brown, her eyes were a brilliant, glowing green. She jerked her head to a collection of boulders on her left.

"There." She stood and walk to the boulders. She placed her hand on the rock and closed her eyes.

"Behind the boulder." She said, opening her eyes. She lifted off the ground and landed on the top of the boulder.

Right, almost forgot. Using magic increases your agility and physical abilities.

She jumped down and disappeared behind the boulder. She came out from behind it, pulling a girl with Fire Mage robes on and long, blazing orange hair.
(A/N The picture above is Scarlet which is the girl. She was expertly drawn by the one and only @LightningStrikeTC)

"Hello. I'm Scarlet, a Mental Mage. Sorry that I had to hide for so long. I just was afraid of how Jay would react." The girl said firmly.

"Why?" Jay asked, confused.

"I am the very last Mental Mage. Most Elemental Mages are afraid of me and try to kill me."

"But I'm not afraid of you." Jay said, confused.

"Because, not only am I a Mental Mage, but I'm also a retired assassin." Scarlet said, hiding behind her bangs.

"Assassin?" Jay said, pokerfaced.

"Yes." Scarlet replied.

"COOL!" Jay exclaimed. Scarlet looked at her in amazement.

"Cool?" She says in confusion.

"It means amazing, awesome, exquisite, etc." I explained.

"Oh. Thank you," Scarlet said, bowing to both me and Jay.

"Shall we get going?" I presented.

"Yeah."
