Ash found Sabrina sitting on the porch, looking up at the stars. They'd just gotten home, leaving the mess of the establishment for the police to investigate. She looked behind her, startled when he closed the door.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to frighten you. I thought you might like some company." He apologized, blushing furiously.
"Sure." She scooted over, allowing him to sit beside her so they were shoulder to shoulder.
They sat in silence for a few minutes, just gazing up at the starry sky before Sabrina turned to him.
"Do you think they're watching us?"
Ash looked thoughtful as he turned to face her. "Yeah. I do. They were there to save us once, I know they'd do it again."
Satisfied with this answer she turned back to look up at night sky which was covered in bright starlight. He continued to watch her, the way she grinned up at the canopy of stars, the way her hair framed her face. He felt his heart beat faster as he turned away, blushing again.
Get it together, Ash. He scowled to himself.
"I'm glad it's over." He finally said, breaking the silence. His nightmares had ceased to exist since they'd left the now abandoned establishment.
"Me too." Sabrina sighed in relief, leaning against the front door.
After a few moments he looked over and met her bright blue gaze. She was smiling which he took for a good sign.
He also figured it was time for him to make his move.
"Hey.. I was wondering." He paused and mentally kicked himself at how stupid he sounded. "If you'd like to go out sometime?" He could almost hear Lance cackling at him for being so awkward.
Sabrina laughed out loud which he frowned at, a little taken aback by her outburst. When she realized the hurt expression on his face she stopped laughing.
"Id love to." She smiled sweetly.
"Really? You were laughing so I figured.." He rubbed the back of his neck, relieved and overjoyed.
"No.. You were just nervous. It made me laugh, I'm sorry." She apologized but her grin stayed plastered to her face.
Reassured by this answer, he laid back and looked down the dark expanse of road and then back up at the sky. He felt safe with the star's light. The darkness was gone.
