Eyes Wide - Handsome Ghost ft. Whole Doubts

_______________________

I had just finished my first day of sophomore year at Beacon Hills High and was walking down the hall to the lacrosse field where Boys lacrosse tryouts were going on. My dad is the coach and is also my ride home so I have to sit through all the sporty stuff. For the longest time I took online school, but this year I decided it would be better for me to get social.

"Hi Mac!" My dad called me over.

"Hey dad!" I replied taking a seat on the bench. None of the players were here yet. They were probably getting changed. Soon though a group of boys came swarming onto the field. I took out my homework. The only thing I really had was chemistry. Mr. Harris, the teacher, was not the nicest person. By the time I finished the practice was starting to end. I packed up all my stuff and watched as this years team huddled up. They all hurried back to the locker room except for two boys. One of the boys seemed very energetic and had a buzz cut, the other had a lost puppy expression on his face and had longer hair.

"So you're the Coach's daughter? Do you go to school here, I don't think I've seen you before." The energetic one babbled on.

"Yeah, this is my first year, and you are?"

"Stiles!" He held out his hand.

"Scott" the other one spoke up.

"Mackenzie, but I prefer Mac." I shook there hands. "Nice meeting you I guess," I stood up and flipped my hair over my shoulder walking to my dads car.

I buckled up and waited for him to come out and drive me home. Eventually he slid into the drivers seat throwing a bag into the back probably full of sport stuff.

"Nothing's better than lacrosse with my boys. So how was school cuz it was just as annoying for me Greenberg is still there." My dad sighed driving onto the road.

"Not as traumatizing as expected to be honest. It looks like the lacrosse teams gonna be good this year." I replied.

"Yeah. McCall must've done a lot of practicing unless he's taking steroids. Never had a doubt about that kid though. Anyway what about you cupcake, make any friends?"

"Yeah Cupcake! This nice girl named Lydia and some of her friends," I answered happily. "Actually she's coming over around 7 if that's ok."

"Sure! Lydia seems like a nice girl I've had her in economics," he replied loudly as he always seems to do.

"Considering you're the only economics teacher it makes sense," I rolled my eyes at him with a bit of my smile growing on my face.

We sat in silence for a while listening to the quiet music that was playing. Then my dad pulled into McDonalds, that same smile appeared on my face. We ordered two Happy Meals for dinner. We pulled into the driveway. We sat down together at the dining room table and ate are food in silence.

"What sort of toy is this?" My dad shouted at the McDonald prize playing with making me laugh silently. He loved his little toys. I looked at the clock on the wall, it read 5:45. I cleaned up my space and threw away my trash. I then helped dad clean up the kitchen and dining room. He then pulled up a bag and emptied it onto the table.

"Okay these are the kids trying out," my dad showed me list of boys. "If they know me they know I eliminate the suckers after the first day," he laughed as I skimmed the list.

"So you're definitely getting rid of Greenberg this year right?" I asked setting down the papers.

"No! I love to see him suffer," he laughed again. I rolled my eyes and turned around headed for my room, otherwise known as the basement.

I loved it because it was so big and kind of peaceful. I threw my school bag to my love seat. I sat down on the side of my bed and yawned, I turned my head to the digital clock on my nightstand, it read 6:25. I took the bed that sat next to the clock and started reading. I was rereading the series of Unfortunate Events for what seemed like the hundredth time, and it probably was. I loved the series ever since I was young. I read for what seemed like only a few minutes until my phone vibrated, it was Lydia. I picked up the phone.

L: Hey Mac!

M: Hi Lydia!

L: So I'm on you're road but what's the house number, I can't remember.

M: it's 453

L: I see it I'll see you like now.

~the line went dead~

I scurried up the stairs to right as a knock sounded on the door.

"I'll get it!" I shouted. I ran to the door to see my new friend.

"Right this way Lydia" I said as I opened the door gesturing for her to follow me.

"It's a nice place you have," Lydia complimented kind of shocked.

"Thanks" I smiled. I lead her into the basement.

"Oh my gosh I love this room! It's adorably- I don't know the word to use but yeah!" Lydia gasped looking around at the big space. "Anyway, we have outfit picking to do!" Lydia clapped her hands heading for my closet. She looked through my whole closet and my entire dresser just to see what she was working with.

"I'm happy to see we have some skirts, but you seriously need to own at least one freaking dress!" Lydia looked at me with disappointment. I shrugged in response. She pulled out a black skater skirt and fish net tights. She searched some more as I sat in my bed and watched, she found a black leather jacket and a peachy colored tank top to go with it.

"This should do good!" She smiled at the outfit, "I made sure you got to keep some of your style. Okay now shoes!" She pulled out all of my shoes frowning. "Why don't you have a heels in here!" She was trying so hard not to scream.

"I don't wear heels." I shrugged.

"Mac! Ok we're definitely going shopping, you, Allison and I," Lydia nodded at me. She was over Allison's earlier, at least I wasn't the only disappointment.

"These will have to do," she threw a pair of black combat boots with gold studs on the back at me with a sigh.

"Thank you Lydia!" I said setting out the ensemble.

"Oh we're not done sweetheart! Please tell me you know how to fishtail braid?" Lydia asked glancing at me closing my closet. I nodded in response, "ok you do that tomorrow right!"

"Sounds good!"

"Alright, you're makeup today was fine so I have trust in you on that. Am I missing anything? If you need anything you should give me a call." She sorted me all out, and gave me a goodbye hug before strutting out of my room, then suddenly she whipped around, "and Mackenzie, meet me at the front of the school 15 minutes before Homeroom." I nodded vigorously before she strutted out.

I smiled before collapsing onto my bed. I sighed before getting up to change into a pair of sweatpants and my large jersey that said 'Daddy's girl 01'. I then trudged over to my bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I threw my long brown hair up into a messy bun with loose strands of hair falling out. I then snuggled up into my bed and drifted off into a deep sleep.
