I'm okay. I can do this.

Tyler's head was racing a mile a minute-- no, a hundred miles a minute, as his family members stared him in the face. His palms were sweaty, knees shaking, and though he couldn't see himself, probably white as a ghost.

"Tyler, say something." Tyler heard his mother order, but opening his mouth would just lead to nothing coming out. I look like a fool. I'm not talking.

Tears were rolling down his face now, as he strained his vocal cords trying to make a noise come out, but to no avail.

"Wake up. Dude. Get up!" Tyler heard a voice from nowhere yell. It sounded like his friend from school, Joshua. Tyler jerked awake with a gasp, covered in sweat.

"You had a nightmare or something," Josh said to him.

Tyler's Point-of-view

"No kidding," I said with sarcasm in my voice. I was at Josh's house, the guest bedroom, to be more specific, because my parents had to tent the house for a week. My parents know Josh's parents, so while they were in a hotel down the road I would stay here.

Josh has been my best friend for a looooooong time, and he's like the coolest person ever. He's sixteen and I'm fifteen, but we're in the same grade, our sophomore year of high school.

"Geez, don't get all angry at me!" Josh said jokingly to make me laugh. It worked. I threw a pillow at him.

"What time is it?" I ask, glancing over at the window, seeing rays of sunlight that indicate it was morning.

"Uhh, like 8:30." Joshua looked at his phone for a moment before getting up. "I'm gonna go get some breakfast at Waffle House, you coming?"

"I mean, yeah, after I get some clothes on." We both started laughing.

He left the room and I got up out of bed, goosebumps going down my arms as the cold air from the vent hit my skin, now that it wasn't under the comforter. I shook it off and pulled on a pair of dark grey jeans and a red hoodie. I walked out of the room after putting in my contacts and putting on my shoes.

"Josh? Where'd you go?" I call, not hearing an answer.

Honk honk. I turned around towards the window and saw Josh in his car waiting for me. Laughing a bit, I walk outside, pulling the door shut before heading out to the purple-reddish car.

"What took you so long?" He asked jokingly with a stupid grin on his face.

"You got dressed in the car didn't you?! Is that how you were so fast at getting in the car?"

"A magician never reveals his secrets," Josh laughed before pulling out of the driveway.
