What if on that day we had chosen to meet in a field of those dahlias you loved so much? Would our lives have truly been intertwined? If only I had known the misfortune of the flowers that bloomed throughout my life... Those red flowers of death and sorrow... When I can no longer see will I become one with the flowers of tragedy..?

...

I was born on the night of an equinox... It was a crisp autumn night that smelled of fallen rain. A rather peaceful time in our country of red. Everything was going well for us, a country that had been at war with Gailion for many years. It was amazing that we had managed to accomplish such a feat...

On that very same night Mother fell deathly ill. I had been told that it was my fault, but I didn't care, it doesn't matter. I was a child of tragedy, I would only bring pain and death in the end. I was isolated from everyone and everything in fear that I would bring them misfortune. Nothing could be done to prevent it, inevitably a number of the servants that looked after me died. I didn't understand why everyone I came to care about disappeared shortly after I opened up to them, I was oblivious and ignorant.

I at the time didn't know any of my family members, but I was told I was a princess by my caretakers. Like I'd believe that. Aren't princesses supposed to have lots of friends and servants that always stood by their side? Aren't they supposed to live in a big palace full of lavish furniture? At the most I knew I was of noble descent because of the servants that had taken care of me, but why was I always cooped up in this cottage in the middle of no where? Why didn't my family visit me? I was so lonely and every time my servants disappeared and were replaced I felt hurt and abandoned... Was I really that bad?

By the time I was seven I decided that I didn't need a servant to watch over my every move, I further isolated myself. I would hide away in my room and bury my head in the tons of books that had accumulated over the years or would leave on little adventures around the surrounding wooded area. I learned about the history of my country, a country that was bathed in red, from many books. The soil here had a special mineral that dyed some of the plants bright shades of red, and coincidently rubies were our main export. It was a country unlike the others. My life was dull and boring, my days blurred together, but I didn't mind... Soon I would experience what was one of the best days of my life and it would change me for the better.
