Upon finishing dessert I excused myself to go back up to my room. Thankfully Mera was standing just outside of the dining hall, since I hadn't quite memorized my way around yet. The walk up was mostly silent, the only sound being the resounding of our footsteps. I opened my door and entered, walking to the adjoined bathroom to freshen up a bit.

I had managed to bring all my books with me and hidden between their pages were my treasured letters. I didn't bring much else other than clothing and a few of my personal belongings. Everything was neatly arranged and within reach.

Mera walked over to me with my night dress in one arm.
"Let me help you change, I'm sure your tired from your trip here, you best being going to bed soon."
"Ah... It's okay, I can change by myself."
"No I insist. It is my job to do so."
The concept was foreign to me and I was a little nervous because I hadn't had someone do something like this for me except when I was very young. I liked to do everything by myself it's what I had grown accustomed to, but I didn't want to be rude or cause Mera any trouble so I complied rather awkwardly."Oh... Okay, then."
"Turn around for a bit please."

Mera left soon after changing me into my night gown, closing the door behind her quietly. I opened a book, carefully removing one of many letters. Unfolding it carefully I read it over in my mind.

'Dear Rena,

I've been doing really well lately! Lessons have been going good and everything has been peaceful lately. I've been getting less time to write you these letters, but my parents have become curious about you. They wonder who I send so much time writing letters to and send gifts to. Other than that nothing is new. How are you as of late? I hope you've been eating enough and have been having adventures outside. It's not healthy being cooped up inside your room all the time is it? What've you been reading recently? You said there were more books that your care taker had brought you, right? I can't wait to see you again.

Best of wishes, from Aldwin.'

I smiled. He has been worrying about my well being ever since the first letter. He knew I didn't have much of a sense of self-preservation. It filled me with warmth knowing that Aldwin cared so much about me. I folded it back up carefully and placed it back into the book. I flipped through the pages of the book, reading the letters scattered within it.

I carefully placed the books back where I had initially found them and walked over to lay down on the bed. Today was pretty hectic and I was slowly starting to feel the day's toll. I pulled back the blanket and crawled in, pulling the blankets back up and snuggling in. The bed was softer than the one I had back hom- I remember then that I would have to start calling this palace home now and not that cottage in the middle of nowhere. I hope that things stay peaceful for as long as possible...
My eyes became heavy and they slowly drifted closed, my world fading into darkness.

I opened my eyes in a field of wind swept grass. I sat up, seeing trees and mountains in the distance. Standing up I scanned my surroundings, it was so familiar. I walked into the shade of the trees and ventured deeper into the underbrush. The trees thinned out opening to a view of a familiar lake. I recognized this place...

I could see the our meeting spot from here and I slowly made my way over to the willow tree. A shadow of movement could be seen from between the unkept hanging branches. I parted the branches and entered into the canopy, taking a seat at the base of the tree I gazed at the shimmering surface of the lake.

A pair of hands suddenly covered my eyes.
"Guess who?" A familiar voice called.
"Who?" I replied in a cheerful tune. The hands slid from my eyes and I turn around.
"It's Aldwin. I'm surprised you didn't recognize my voice."
"Of course I knew it was you, who else would it have been?" Aldwin pouted and I giggled.
"Come on I want to show you something." He helped me up and took me by the hand.
"Close your eyes I want it to be a suprise!" I closed my eyes and allowed Aldwin to guide me. The grass tickled my legs as we made our way through the field. We came to a stop after a minute or so. "You can open your eyes now..."

My eyes open and a field of red stretches before me, beautiful flowers grow as far as the eye could see. Their petals curling and twisting in an elegant display that seemed almost melancholic to me. Yet it was undeniably gorgeous... My mouth fell open and Aldwin squeezed my hand gently. "It's really pretty, huh?"
"Yeah... It's so beautiful, but I can't help, but feel sad..."
"Is something wrong?"
"I don't know... Something just doesn't quite sit right... But thank you for showing me something so amazing." I smiled at him and he smiled back.
