Mera led me to the dining hall before bowing and leaving. I hesitantly open the door and enter. My father sits at the head of the table, with who I assume are my brothers and sister.
"I'm glad you could make it Rena." I stiffen slightly at his statement, and head towards the only empty seat. "Shall we start introductions now?" We all nod. "I am Wrent, head of the Liluna family and the King of Roujhen."
The man that sits to his right speaks. "I am Ciyphair eldest child of the Liluna family and heir to the throne of Roujhen." I glance to the left of my father.
"I am Driquius the third eldest child of the Liluna family and a Prince of Roujhen." His tone was lighter and more airy than Ciyphair's.
"I am Sylfia the second eldest child of the Liluna family and a princess of Roujhen." Her hair was a rich brown instead of the red hues of the others. It was my turn now and I felt so uncomfortable as they looked at me, their introductions were so formal and rehearsed. How could I ever compare?
"Um, I am Rena. I am the youngest child of the Liluna family and a princess of Roujhen..." I knew I had messed up in my introduction, but I couldn't help it I hadn't been around this many people before. My anxiety was slowly growing, it twisted and coiled in the pit of my stomach.
"This must be really new to you, seeing as how you haven't interacted with people very often before this." It was Sylfia that spoke, her tone was kind and light as she spoke to me from across the table. "No worries, you'll meet plenty of people and get the hang of it eventually."
"Thank you..."
I felt warm inside, it was a different warmth than the one I felt when I was around Aldwin. It didn't quite warm me all the way through, nor did it make me feel as if I was as light as a feather. It was like the rays of the summer sun.
"Ah. It looks like dinner has arrived!" Ciyphair announced, looking expectantly at the servants that entered the doors I had come through not long before. The food was extraordinary, it wasn't like anything I had ever seen back home. The servings were huge and the presentation of the dishes were elegant. I stared at my plate in awe. "Go ahead, dig in." Sylfia had spoken up again from across the table, gesturing with her fork. She seemed genuinely interested in my well being and made me feel more comfortable being here. I wasn't really sure what to say, but I wanted to at least thank her for being so kind to me.
"O-okay, um thanks for being so nice to me..."
"It's not a problem, that's what sisters are for right?" She smiled at me and her green eyes closed in a sincere expression.
"Right!"
I had to stop being so tense and loosen up a bit. These people are my family so I should learn to trust them and act more comfortably around them.
"You two seem to be getting along well." Driquius had turned to look at us, he was smiling too. Maybe I had been wrong about them. It was only natural that they had pushed me away, I would've only hurt them. It was human nature to want to live as long and comfortably as possible...Dinner was a good chance for me to get to know my family. Father was rather quiet, but he smiled as we conversed with each other. Ciyphair had been very polite, lightly commenting on our interactions and Driquius cracked a joke here and there. Sylfia was carefree and joked around with us. This was a turning point for me. I actually felt like this was my home and that I belonged here, but I couldn't shake this feeling...
It was a strange feeling that swirled in the pit of my stomach. Would this last? Were they faking? Pretending? I couldn't see why these thoughts came to mind... Maybe I'm just paranoid. It's impossible to tell if they genuinely care about me or if it's an act of some sort. I don't see what their motives could be so this can't possibly be an act, right?
AN:I've been getting more homework than I expected~ My life has been pretty busy in generally as of late~ I will not be posting any illustrations for a while because of this~ It's a short AN for today, so see ya next week~!
