Book of secrets

Chapter 1

Melissa's p.o.v.

"You have got to be kidding me" "no, it is what you have to do, dear" my grandma answered looking at me with, an enthusiastic look, "come now dear, you just turned 16, your powers will have gotten strong enough too use, all you got to do is rhyme" I sighed directing my eyes to the dead flower in front of me. "okay here I go" I sighed once again and prepared myself, I lifted my right hand and began to sway it side too side in slow movements, and then a pinkish light started to glitter and shine in my hand getting brighter, "old and rotten this flower has gotten, grow it back so it no longer will be forgotten" I moved my hand toward the plant and the pinkish light moved out of my hand and began flying in circles around the flower, the fairy like dust fell onto the dead leafs, then the light got absorbed into the rest of the plant, and it started growing back too it's original rose red petals and fresh green leafs, my eyes widened, "I-I did it!" "oh I just knew you could do it dear!" grandma hugged me, I have tried this spell a thousand times and it never worked because my magic was too weak in this world, but i guess grams was right, I'm finally strong enough too use.. Uhm at least smaller spells.

Wait... "If I am strong enough too cast spells now, does that mean?" my words came out slowly yet a hint of excitement, "yes, dear I guess it is at last time that you take the role as the next guardian of the book of secrets!" grams, began walking over to a giant chest, it was a light wood brown color with iron on the edges, the chest was clearly old, and you could tell by the smaller rust parts on the iron edges, and how worn out the colors were. Grams lifted up her necklace, (search for skyward heart necklace).

"Grams what are you doing?" I asked looking over at her, she took of the necklace and held the heart in front of the big lock on the chest, then the gem started shining and the lock fell off, and I could have sworn I saw the entire chest glitter gold for just a second, anyway the chest opened and a big, leather book began floating up from the chest, then it flew over too me, i couldn't help taking a step back, i may be a 'witch' but i must admit i have never seen a floating/flying book before, "relax dear it won't hurt you" Grams remarked with a bit of sarcasm in her tone, "yeah I know that grams, I have just never seen a flying book before and it startled me" I explained, "I suppose so, well Melissa my dear grandchild, this is the book of secrets."

The book was wrapped in red leather and the corners and edges was kept tightly together by what looked like gold, but it was too dusty for anyone too see clearly, the gold made swirly patterns into the middle shaping a heart, and in the middle of this heart the title book of secrets. "I can't believe it's finally time for you to take over the role of being a guardian" grams gave me her kind smile, the kind of smile that only she could give, "yeah it's crazy" I responded softly as I traced the gold patterns with my fingers, the book moved a bit closer too me as if it was an animal and it was being petted, I smiled a little, my entire life was going to change now... All thanks too this book.

'beeb beeb' I jumped letting go of the book and looked too my right, "oh it's just my phone" letting out a half laugh/half sigh, "I guess all the tension and serious business got to me" grabbing my phone I opened it and read the message, "right... who is it from dear?" grams asked as she was beginning to pack all the herbs and magic books down once again, I looked up at her, "oh, it's just Sara asking if i want too walk to school with her tomorrow" "oh that's right it's the first day of school tomorrow, are you ready for it?" grams continued, already knowing what she wanted too hear i answered "yes and no, yes i am ready too see my friends and my 'human life', no i am not ready too keep my magic an even bigger lie then it was before, especially since my magic is stronger and i am now the official guardian, evil magic will come after it and it's going too be hard explaining the flying fire balls burning down the entire school" all grams did was look at me, she looked like she was thinking about something... "you know what dear, i am going too give this too you" grams again took of her necklace and walked over too me, then putting it on me, "WAIT!! grams this necklace has been going through the family for years, and it has some pretty intense protection spells on it, are you sure you wanna give it too me? I know it means a lot to you" "and you mean more to me, so I wanna keep you protected and as you said many evil magic users will be coming after you, so you need it more than i do, also the necklace was created together with the book so it is also a pretty powerful magic boost, even with a bit of training you can learn how to teleport into the other worlds with it instead of the book" grams cupped my face looking me in the eyes "you need all the help you can get, but remember too keep it a secret from your human friends... Now get home you need too pack for school" she then dragged me downstairs and too the front door. "Okay, okay i'm going! Thanks for everything grams, I promise to do my best" I gave her a big warm hug, as i then began walking home, she closed the door and waved me off, from the kitchen window.
