Chapter 19
“Hey! Brando!” The guy exclaimed as he opened the door. He looked maybe a couple years older than us. His house was huge. It was next to a beach with a regular house next to it probably going to be ours.
“Paully!” He shouted doing a happy man hug. I had to admit, he was pretty good looking. He was wearing a plaid shirt that was unbuttoned and had a white shirt under it, showing his muscles. He was tan, had messy light brown hair.
“Oh, Paul, this is Justin, Alex, Alexis, Braydon and…” He pointed over at me. “Lyra.” He spoke.
Paul shook everyone’s hands as he introduced all of us. He waved and smiled at Braydon, shaking his hand jokingly too. He soon shook mine and gave me devious smirk before looking at all of us again. That was weird. “Well, come on in!”
Everyone walked inside first but Justin and I walked in last. I, stepping in first, but I was stopped by Justin who pulled me back by my upper arm.
“There’s something up with this guy.” He commented ignoring the small ‘hey!’ I had said.
“Why?” I asked him with a crooked eyebrow. “Is it because he smiled at me?” I crossed my arms with a confident grin upon my face.
"I don't trust him. He's written bad all over him."
"And you're not?" I laughed, joking around.
He rolled his eyes seriously. “Lyra, just stay with me at all times. Don’t ever stay alone with him.” He put his finger up at my face strictly, his mouth clenching. He was being completely serious. “Got it?”
I hesitated a little but spoke clearly. “Y-yes.” I said forwardly.
He nodded before walking past me. What was so wrong about Paul? Just cause he looked like a flirt and smiled at me? I really hope he’s not one of those overprotective boyfriends.
“Hey, you guys coming? Paul says we should all go out to the beach and hang around the bonfires.” Alex yells through the house. After Paul spoke to us about some rules and guidelines, we got to move in the house. There was already furniture and a couple bedrooms. Braydon and I are sharing a room, Alexis and Braydon, and, Brandon and Alex.
“Sure, we’ll come soon.” Justin said still organizing his clothes. Another thing I learned about him, he’s nitpicky on organization.
“I didn’t know criminals are so organized.” I said sitting on the edge of the bed, watching his fix the dressers.
He turned around and gave me a glare, before continuing on his organization.
“What?” I laughed confused why he looked at me like that.
He turned around and walked over to me kneeling down to my sitting level. “Why don’t you, go and look around the house? Explore maybe…?”
I furrowed my eyebrows. “What’s wrong with you?” I asked softly crossing my arms.
“Nothing, just go see the house and go outside with Alex or something to check out the beach. I just want to be alone. I’ve got things to do.” He rubbed my thighs soothingly as his hazel eyes looked at into my eyes.
I looked at him a couple more seconds, deeply confused but I nodded anyways. “Okay.” I picked my nails lightly and got off the bed. He spun me around, putting his hand under my chin lifting me up to lightly peck on my lips. It was soft and gentle. He gave me a smirk softly showing his dimples before he went back to the dressers.
I walked out the room and down the stairs. I jumped on the ground after the last stair. I walked into the nice kitchen and grabbed a cup out of the cabinet for some water. As I was filling the cup from the filter attached to the fridge, I turned around and almost dropped my cup from how scared Paul had made me.
