Maia was sitting in the locked room above the school cafe and she sighed, listening to the irritating yet calming sound of the heaters and chatter from downstairs. She loved to be up here, never did know why. She just discovered this place about a couple years ago as a freshman and it was kind her sanctuary. She smiled at the book she held in her hands, as she brushed it off. She blew the dust away from it and opened the book, revealing the secret of her heart. There was her poems, songs, and even her drawings sometimes. This is what kept her sane through all the things she went through, emotionally and even at school, behind those shades she wore. I put myself through this shit for a reason. She reminded herself as she read through the most recent poem she wrote.
Take these broken wings,
And mend them with your love.
Teach my heart those things,
That are, allied to a dove.
Let my soul then soar,
To heights unknown and new,
That it may then explore,
This vision, that is you.
Maia closed her eyes, holding the book close to her chest, closing her eyes and feeling a tear roll its way down her paled face. She leaned against the wall of the building, thinking about the actions that she made to have to be this way. To be obligated to hide her feelings from everyone. To have to only be able to show that she wasn't so tough behind closed doors. To never show intrest. To be cold and rejecting. She thought of these things, then felt her phone vibrate in her pocket.
Incoming Call from: HaZzA
She picked up the phone, wiping her tearsaway from her blue eyes. "Yes Harry?" Maia sighed as she closed up her book, putting it under her arm as she reached for the window. "Maia...I need you here right now..um, Mr. T wants you here NOW." He said, hanging up the phone. Maia dropped her phone into her pocket and raced down the stairs near the window, wiping away her tears as she ran towards the school. All of a sudden, a person appeared next to her. "Maia what-what were you doing u-up there?'' A certain Irish accent asked her as she looked back at him trailing right behind her, "NIALL WERE YOU HERE THE WHOLE TIME?!?!?!" Maia yelled at the blond haired lad, who looked away sheepisly and back at her, his skin glistening in the bright sunlight.
"Yes Maia, but if you don't want to tell me, its fine. Just know that I can listen and understand? Please? I don't want you to keep all those feelings or whatever bottled up inside." Niall said sincerely as Maia stopped running, seeing they had appeared at the school, she flipped her hair away from her face. putting on her sunglasses and smiling slightly down at the short Irish lad. "Ok Niall, if you promise not to tell anyone I was, erm, crying. Ok?" Maia said, smiling brightly. "Alright love." He said, smiling and hugging her. She looked around quickly, making sure nobody was around and hugged the blond boy back. They broke apart as Maia wiped the smile off her face and walked into the building, heading to Mr. Tomlinson's office.
So Maia DOES have a soft side..
